The Gateway Family YMCA works to strengthen their community and foster healthy lifestyles in more than 13 neighborhoods throughout Eastern Union and Middlesex counties. To that end, the staffers at the four area branches lead programs geared toward youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. In 1976, educator, musician, and kinesiologist Robin Wes longed for a children's gym that prioritized personal growth over competition. Unveiled at a time when physical-education classes pushed students to focus almost exclusively on winning, Robin's program was swiftly adopted and is now used in more than 300 Little Gyms worldwide. Robin still pens original music to accompany lessons, which engage whippersnappers 4 months old?12 years old with gymnastics, dance, karate, and parent and child activities.
Each of The Little Gym's classes introduces simple movements that sharpen motor skills and set brains whirring, allowing kids to progress at their own pace until they can finally build a computer out of macaroni and glitter. Staff members strive to build a base for lifelong social skills and self-assurance with each exercise, including activities rooted purely in fun, such as summer camps or birthday parties, which helped The Little Gym to earn title of #1 Birthday Chain in Parents magazine.

It's not surprising that tots become so attached to this modern learn-and-play facility. Kids can romp through the jungle gyms, slides, and bouncy surfaces of the center's 1,500 square-foot indoor playground.
Perhaps the most exceptional thing about Citibabes, however, is that it isn't just for kids—while their children are in class (or a supervised childminding session), grown-ups can take advantage of adults-only programs such as parenting seminars and training sessions at the on-site fitness center. In the gym, mommies and daddies get their heart rates pumping on modern cardiovascular machines, reserve personal training sessions, or bench-press strollers filled with dumbbells.
The SoHo club offers a full array of classes, preschool, a tumbling playroom, fitness classes and studio, adult gym, birthday parties, childcare, ongoing family events, workshops, seminars, Junior’s Fresh family friendly café, a juice bar, and more.
A group of more than 50 podiatrists across the world have one thing in common, besides podiatry: they received training from Dr. Dean Spellman, a 25-year veteran who tends to the foot-oriented needs of clients of all ages. In addition to holding positions at several hospitals and surgical centers, Dr. Spellman serves as one of two podiatrists at Family Foot Care—a well-established podiatric center with locations throughout the New York City area. And when he’s not helping patients regain the pep in their step, Spellman takes the time to work with youth soccer teams to ensure all participants can run, kick, and victoriously prance with ease.
