Zone Action Park thrills family members young and old with themed fun zones that quench thirsts for go-karting, bouncing, mini golf, and batting practice. The Speed Zone pits kids as young as 3 years old against each other for zipping go-kart action, whereas a bounce area lets them hop safely on inflatable jumps or slides. Batters practice against slow- or fast-pitch machines in the Strike Zone. Inside, the Game Zone fosters friendly competition with family-friendly games such as Guitar Hero fueled by fresh pizza from an onsite restaurant that happily houses large parties or birthdays.

Velocity's coaches, many of whom are trained in kinesiology and exercise science, lead heart-pounding fitness programs for adults and children ages 8 and older. The one-hour movement sessions gather an ever-shifting array of exercises calculated to increase kids' speed and agility and challenge grownups' coordination more than their offices' annual air-hockey-based performance reviews. Small groups of 15 people work to reach their peak performance level under the coach's custom-tailored tutelage. After the program, strengthened bodies may measure their tangible successes in greater endurance, improved metabolism, and an abandoned belief that stale Twizzler jousts counts as exercise.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center gives kids a little round-headed person's view of the world, surrounding them with blown-up versions of normally miniature plastic environments. At six locations across North America, children ages 3 and older—and their adults—drive all-terrain buggies through a Lego forest in hot pursuit of bank robbers, travel through a dungeon blasting skeletons with laser guns, and build and test their own race cars on a colorful track. At every location, visitors can enter the 4D Cinema, where 3D Lego films are enhanced with in-theater weather effects such as wind and snow. They can also look out over Lego-brick recreations of the local city that feature scale models of landmarks such as Chicago's Navy Pier.

An exploration of the bright world of plastic bricks doesn't have to end at the attractions. In a Master Builder Training Academy, experienced Lego architects pass on their construction tips to eager students. To continue the fun at home, shops at each location house hundreds of current Lego sets.

The guides at DFWAP Adventures lead treks throughout DFW Adventure Park's 176 acres, where families, church groups, and coworkers rely upon communication and teamwork to conquer challenges ranging from paintball scenarios to scavenger hunts through the wilderness. Colleagues trade in their eight-hour workday for corporate boot camp on the challenge course by tackling conflict resolution and dealing with stress. Paramedic trainees can practice through wilderness search and vertical rescue, as well as tactical medic scenarios. Groups can also plan a multi-venue event combining paintball, a wilderness challenge course, obstacle race, and ziplines for a full day adventure.

To warm up after laps around the Euless ice rink, skaters can check out the onsite baseball stadium, batting cages, soccer fields, and Texas Star Golf Course. How long does it take a two-person inner tube to travel 1,161 feet when it’s impeded by misting water and several altitude changes, including an 81-foot drop? Well, as proven by the Green Extreme uphill water coaster, the answer is a little more than a minute. This extreme thrill ride is one of many aquatic attractions at NRH2o Family Water Park. Guests can also zip down enclosed and open-body slides, spin around tube slides, lounge on Beachside Bay’s sand beaches, or partake in family-friendly activities such as the 660-foot lazy river and the five-level water playground. Augmenting the splash-happy structures, the park hosts monthly events that range from fireworks to movie screenings in the 12,000-square-foot wave pool, which makes it more difficult for people to reserve entire rows of seats for their friends who haven’t arrived yet.
