Paintball Asylum's more than 40 acres of playing fields beckon competitors to duck and dive behind bunkers or dart through buildings. Visitors paint opponents' chest canvases with acrylic bullets on two turf air-ball fields, playing high-speed games that resemble professional teams or replays of pickup games on fast-forward. The village field challenges players as they skulk over two bridges, through several buildings, and around three cars. Meanwhile, 20 acres of wooded fields scattered with bunkers offer an expansive space to reign victorious over an opposing team and act out the last scene of Hamlet in the shade of an oak tree. A fully stocked pro shop arms players with acrylic artillery, and teams can swing by Paintball Asylum for tournaments, clinics, and scenario games hosted throughout the year.
With two outdoor fields and one indoor heated field, paintballers find common ground to battle over yearlong. They strategize and maneuver around large inflatable barriers as a referee keeps watch over the game to ensure fair play. Players can bring their own equipment, or rent gear onsite, such as Tippmann 98 semiautomatic markers with antichop technology. The fields, complimented by a private party room, also make for ideal party sites, and 3rd Eye offers packages to suit birthdays and bachelor parties.
Strange things are growing at The Fun Farm. The corn looks normal until you start to notice the intricate paths cut into it. Other fields sprout brightly colored pyramids, cylinders, and even covered wagons and helicopters. In place of curse-bearing scarecrows, there's something else to watch out for among these crops: your fellow paintball competitors. Seven playing fields host both paintball and laser tag, with inflatable bunkers at the airball field and natural cover across wooded fields. (The "Black Hawk Down" field is where you'll find the helicopters.)
The Fun Farm's 76 acres hold much more than paintball, however. Surrounding the playing fields and the corn maze, natural forests, hills, and open terrain also make an ideal setting for a 21-hole disc golf course. A rock-climbing wall looms elsewhere, and go-karts zoom around a track. While they play, visitors might also be tempted by the aromas of cheeseburgers and barbecue-rib sandwiches drifting from the snack bar.
PaintballTickets.com has promoted major paintball battlefields across the country for more than 20 years. Its paint-splattered footprint encompasses fields all over the United States—and even in other countries, such as South Africa. Promotions include packaging attractive deals for paintballers that include admission and equipment rental. With deals planned, they expose players to great deals and field owners to new visitors.
The paintball player stops to think, his marker poised for battle. He planned his strategy perfectly, but he hadn't counted on the leaves. Crunching beneath his feet, they threatened to betray him at any moment. If he could just make it to the fort, he would be safe enough to come up with a new plan. At 50 yards away, there’s no sign of the enemy. At 25 yards, he’s still good. But at 5 yards, a nearby tree rustles. Mere steps away from the fort, he hears a twig break—a shout erupts, and a swarm of paintballs fills the air.
Spread across 80 acres, Conder's Paintball's fields set the stage for just such scenario games, tournaments, and parties that put players right into the action. At the facility’s urban-city field, nearby trees cast shadows over 50 buildings where players hide behind walls and prepare to attack. Two woods-ball fields take games deep into the forest, whereas an indoor arena blankets its dirt floor with inflated triangles and cylinders. Before these games, players can stop by the heated pro shop and gear up for battle with camouflaged clothing, goggles, and paintball markers or reenergize with burgers, hot dogs, and sports drinks.
