Perhaps they owe their athletic prowess to the 3,000 square feet of space that the training center offers, complete with two fighting cages and one ring. That's where its instructors drill battling skills into fighters and teach MMA classes such as muay thai and Brazilian jujitsu.

The Slaughter’s roots are planted firmly in Chicago soil. Since its founding in 2006, the franchise has consistently opened roles for the city’s gridiron stars, both on the field and in the front office. This Windy City loyalty has been apparent before the team even played its first snap; Slaughter is a nod to the city’s working class and to the old Chicago stockyards.
In 2009, the Slaughter rewarded the Second City with a championship during an undefeated season as part of the Continental Indoor Football League. A year later, the team joined the Indoor Football League, where it remains today, playing all of its home games at Sears Centre Arena. There, frequent promotions help create a party-like atmosphere, and spacious concourses let fans spread out and play their own pickup games using wadded-up slices of deep-dish pizza as the ball.
Housed in a 12,000-square-foot gym, CrossFit Rise facilitates fitness with an intensive, total-body exercise style, attentive trainers, and ample space for each exerciser to perform safely. CrossFit boot camp folds in the sport's core methodologies but stays true to the high-energy style of traditional boot camps. Like a dance-a-thon held in an active volcano, coaches run participants through ever-changing routines that torch calories by forcing nonstop movement during the course of one hour. Pulling from body-weight-resistance exercises, gymnastics, and barbell-weight training, trainers test clients of all fitness levels, and all can benefit from the camp's goal of ameliorating overall health. CrossFit boot-camp classes take place Monday–Friday at 6 a.m., 10 a.m., and 7 p.m.
With a career spanning more than 20 years, Balanced Exposure's owner, Russell Lowe, has worn many hats, including forensic photographer, wedding photographer, and commercial photographer. Russell has always had a passion for teaching, which is why he finally opened up his own studio space. He and his staff help novice photographers shake hands with their shutter button during introductory Photo Essentials classes for DSLR cameras, whereas DSLR Advanced classes lead intermediate students further into the world of flash lighting by exploring how to use external flashes, set up studio lighting, and sell paparazzi-style photos of local squirrels to National Geographic. Aspiring wedding and studio photographers hone their craft and practice postproduction techniques in the fully equipped studio, which also hosts professional portrait shoots.
Pilates Plus elongates figures and fortifies frames with a slew of mat, yoga, and dance classes led in a comforting, supporting environment. With a certified crew of instructors, stiff students can dabble in body-lengthening lessons, such as Pilates I, which teaches the program’s fundamentals of balance, flexibility, core strength, and two-by-four idolatry. For rhythm-enhanced exercise, Pilates Plus also offers dance-centric classes in Zumba, jazz, hip-hop, barre ballet, belly, and chair dancing, allowing the twinkle-toed to trim, tone, and tighten while meeting their groove quotient for the week.
