  • Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center
Unveiled on Broadway in 1966, Cabaret has since spawned award-winning films and innumerable productions in playhouses and dental-office waiting rooms across the globe. The classic musical delves into the volatile Berlin of 1929 as it chronicles the patrons and performers of the decadent Kit Kat Klub, particularly its star songstress, Sally Bowles. Her tumultuous relationship with aspiring author Cliff Bradshaw progresses parallel to the tentative romance of a German boardinghouse matron and a Jewish fruit vendor—both of which are thrown into jeopardy as the sensual and artistic freedom of the Weimar Republic gives way to the jackboots of Nazi Germany.

  • The Lazy Gator Bar
The view of Florida wildlife from the lakeview terrace at The Lazy Gator Bar needs no food or drinks to make it worthwhile. Over buckets of beers and colorful mixed drinks resting on tables, the setting sun casts an orange-pink glow that adds a charming touch to the airboats coming in from a tour. This glow even makes the 8- and 9-foot-long alligators?who soak in a pool at the live gator and bird exhibit adjoining Black Hammock Gift Shop?look friendly. Waiters bring out bar snacks from the restaurant, while guests to linger over drinks as bands play live music on weekends.

  • Spotlight Theatres Searstown 10 Titusville
Equipped with 3-D capabilities and digital sound, Spotlight Theatres Searstown 10 can easily handle the increasingly sophisticated demands of modern film projection. The theater is also preparing for future innovations coming down Hollywood's pipeline. Here are three upgrades on the horizon: Tantalus 3D The latest action extravaganza based on Greek mythology. As the greedy Tantalus is punished by the gods and trapped between water he can't drink and food he can't reach, audiences feel like they're there with him thanks to the magic of 3-D glasses with the lenses removed. End Times Advances in CGI and multitrack editing have allowed Hollywood to layer the final five minutes of every Best Picture?winning film into a single cathartic joyride. The festival circuit has praised the sequence where Michael Corleone orchestrates an assassination of Forrest Gump, Rocky, and Mozart just as they board swan-ships in the Grey Havens, only to be avenged by hordes of medieval Scotsmen led by Lawrence of Arabia. Dances With Wolves Now that technology has caught up to Kevin Costner's original vision of the frontier on the cusp of modernity, this classic has received a digital remastering. Lieutenant John Dunbar is stationed on the edge of Sioux territory, but soon finds himself torn between the opposing worlds of unstoppable Western expansion and simple tribal virtues. The bittersweet film tells the universal tale of old versus new. Also, everyone rides unicorns.

  • Warehouse 31
They tell a tale to quake your bones at Warehouse 31?on October 13, 1875, a woodcutter by the name of Billy Turner killed his nine-year-old daughter in a horrific accident. Unable to cope with his grief, Turner killed himself. But the pain was too great for death to assuage. Soon Pelham was under siege from a series of mysterious events. A young girl found roaming unattended along a railway. The sound of a chainsaw echoing from the forest. Glass doors sliding open as soon as somebody stepped in front of them. Today, Warehouse 31 stands on the site of that ill-fated lumberyard, and guests can experience some scares of their own, thanks to a cast of monsters, high-tech animatronics, and gravely unhinged clowns.

  • St. Augustine Amphitheatre
History is built into the very foundation of St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Built in 1965 to commemorate the city's quadricentennial, the stage immediately began featuring Cross and Sword, a historical drama about the founding of St. Augustine. It was a tradition that continued unbroken for 32 years. In 2002, St. Johns County funded a refurbishing of the amphitheater. Five years later—after upgrading the capacity, constructing a hikeable arboretum, and clearing out lingering conquistadors—the new facility is capable of comfortably hosting up to 4,100 concertgoers.
