A Paul Mitchell Focus Salon, Tyler Day Salon houses a talented staff of cosmetic artisans capable of adorning scalps with sleek, stylish hair arrangements. Founder and Aveda Institute alum Shannon Womack brings the team approach⎯learned during stints with Redken, Scruples, Schwarzkopf, and Rusk⎯to her staff, building collective creativity through collaboration and nightly Model UN competitions. This approach leaves the team ready to fashion stunning new looks through simple cuts, color and smoothing treatments, facial waxing, or feather extensions.
At the helm of Total Health and Skin Center is Dr. James S. Carr, a board-certified doctor with 21 years of experience. He oversees a similarly impressive staff that includes a nurse practitioner, a registered nurse, and a medical assistant. These experts work together as a team to help clients enhance their exteriors with a variety of medical-grade aesthetic treatments. Their list of services includes some as futuristic as a robot dressed in next year’s fashions: Smoothbeam lasers for acne, advanced chemical peels, and lasers for skin rejuvenation.
A graduate of Mitchell Hairstyling Academy, Renita Burnette harnesses 20 years in the hairstyling industry when expertly trimming tresses and shaping locks into wavy perms. Renita beautifies clienteles inside the Redken-certified Salon Bliss where men and women alike can treat their locks to cuts and highlights administered by stylists wielding Chi and Design Essentials products, or spruce up fingers and toes with a nail shaping and cuticle grooming from the salon's nail techs. Bridal showers and bachelorette parties can reserve the salon for private pampering sessions, where they can drink champagne, nibble on light refreshments, and polish their engagement rings until they can see the future in them.
Dr. Lanford Peck has had as much success as you would expect of an Ivy League med-school grad. Since earning his degree from Yale School of Medicine and completing his residency training at Yale Hospital, the board-certified doctor has accumulated more than 12 years of practice experience and has ascended to the position of owner and medical director of Laser Aesthetics and Liposuction. Along with his team of medical aestheticians and permanent-makeup artist Lynn Keenan, Dr. Peck makes a point to learn about cosmetic technologies as they emerge. His philosophy is the same one that inspired Nietzsche to take up cardio kickboxing: the better you look, the better you feel.
The selection of treatments available at the center is vast. Microdermabrasion, peels, and lasers resurface complexions with varying degrees of intensiveness, sometimes to diminish acne scarring and sometimes to restore a dewy glow. Patients can play up their favorite features with lip augmentation, permanent makeup, or lash-fortifying Latisse, or they can cause hair and spider veins to wither in the glow of specially designed lasers. Laser liposuction is also available to reduce fat and enhance figures.
Sometimes it takes a rude awakening for people to change their habits. For BeYoutifully Bronzed’s owner, it took her mother’s diagnosis of skin cancer to quit using tanning booths. Even with the scare, the habitual beach-goer and pool lounger at first found herself still under the dangerous rays of the sun, attempting to darken her still-healthy skin. The story is a familiar one. Though skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the United States, many Americans still tan due to a desire to have that sun-kissed glow.
Luckily, BeYoutifully Bronzed found a solution. The business, which is located within The Skin Institute, helps clients to stay bronzed year-round with UV-free airbrush tanning performed in-store or brought to the home to prep cheerleaders for competition or prevent brides from blending in with their dresses.
