At ARES 500 locations across the country, they take a scientific approach to its classes, which encourages strength building, increasing endurance, and helping children achieve and maintain a healthy body.

In addition to those classes, ARES 500 offers soccer lessons for kids and adults. Skill-training sessions and team games help students improve their technique and enjoy the outdoors while getting a comprehensive workout. ARES 500 sees soccer as a powerful tool for sustaining positive change in a child?s overall development, and thus the soccer drills are designed to increase concentration, determination, and self-discipline, all while teaching children to share, take turns, lead, listen, and communicate.

In the right light, you can almost see how the 8,500-square-foot indoor soccer field, with its high ceiling and vast depth, was once a movie theater. Back then, it must have taken a lot of imagination to foresee the space as it is now—with painted stadium murals on the walls and competition lines drawn on the floor—but that's just how owner Miguel Garzon envisioned it. Today, the space is home to youth soccer lessons as well as adult leagues and tournaments. After all the soccer balls are put away, the facility spends some time each week as a salsa dance hall and a private event space for birthdays, club nights, and office parties.

Deer Park Community Center runs on the belief that children should remain active and use their imaginations. So, the facility organizes a full slate of athletic and cultural programs as an alternative to other popular forms of entertainment, such as playing video games and trying to sell annoying siblings on eBay. The DPCC offers activities that satisfy a wide range of interests. Youngsters can spark up competition with games of volleyball, basketball, and dodgeball, or get their creative juices flowing during theater performances and age-appropriate dances.

From Ronaldinho to Pelé, many of the most renowned soccer players in history hail from Brazil. The country is steeped in a love of the game that took over Rodrigo Nunes’s life early on. Long before founding RNunes Olé, he lived in São Paulo, where his father was a coach, his uncle was a professional player, and his brother was a trainer.

With the help of a handpicked group of certified coaches, he now passes on some of the soccer knowledge he has accumulated through drills and during talks at camps and clinics. Kids as young as 2 years of age squeal across the fields at the academy, learning to dribble, shoot, and pass. Punctuated by the soft pop of a foot against the soccer ball and the trill of coaches’ whistles, pupils at specialized clinics hone their ability to protect the goal or find legal loopholes that allow terriers into the league.
