Walk into any of BreWingZ Sports Bar and Grill's 19 locations, and you'll be faced with many decisions. First, of course, is the food: the sports bar's crisp, juicy wings come in more than 25 different sauce flavors from classic suicidal hot to orange ginger. The mozzarella cheese sticks are carved from a cheese brick, breaded, and fried to order. And then there are the salads, sandwiches, burgers, and wraps. The family-friendly restaurant even gives kids an extensive selection with six child-friendly dishes, some of which include the same signature items their parents enjoy. But once you've ordered your food, there are a few more dilemmas: Which of the plentiful beers do you choose? Which game on the many massive HD televisions do you watch? Which one is the fork, again? Luckily, the spot's easygoing atmosphere and bounty of entertainment doesn't quite necessitate speedy decision making.

The all-alfresco ambience at this dive bar/restaurant makes any meal feel like a chummy backyard barbecue, but with the added appeal of more than 60 beers on tap, and no curse-laden tirades from apron-wearing dads. This unique set-up, along with a list of no-nonsense burgers, has made Moon Tower Inn a destination recommended by both the Houston Chronicle and The Wall Street Journal.
Visitors to the Dionsio Winery Wine Festival sample the award-winning rich reds, crisp whites, and sweet fruit wines from a selection of local wineries. Local restaurants and vendors whip up delectable dinners and food pairings, while merchants peddle memorable keepsakes and handmade jewelry. Energetic classic rock outfit Thermal Fusion fills the air with a catchy live soundtrack, as staff fill commemorative wine glasses with endless samples of Dionisio's delicious wines. With food, wine, and tunes provided by Houston-based bands and businesses, the fest is a better way to celebrate the local culture than nibbling sandwichs into the shape of the Astro's stadium.
Lucky's Pub may not be a skyscraper, but it still manages to live up to the grand scale of its downtown surroundings. For starters, there's the 21-foot HDTV, which––along with the 50 other TVs interspersed throughout the bar––ensures an un-restricted view of pro and college games from every seat. Likewise the beer list clocks in at a staggering 280-brews strong and counting, yielding almost limitless pairings when combined with pub fare such as pizzas, wings, and sandwiches like the Lucky Cubano with pork, honey ham, and swiss cheese. Add in games such as pool, shuffleboard, and darts, and Lucky's Pub is the perfect place to settle in, kick back, and stay until the games are long over and the players have all crawled back into their gym bags.
"Don't worry if you don't know much about wine," Manager Mike Kurth told the Houston Press just after the restaurant's grand opening in 2010. "I'll find you something you like." Drawing from a palette of more than 170 wines, Cork Soakers' bottle-handlers exude a casual confidence in dispatching potions to pair with a menu of artisanal meats and cheeses. As they consider the flavor notes of herbed Da Vinci gouda, chévre goat cheese, and smoked duck breast, the wait staff never cross over from savviness into snobbery: as Kurth notes, "Anyone who says they know everything about wine is lying. You can always learn more."
While continuing to build their knowledge base, the Cork Soakers team marinates in an atmosphere of full-on wine culture: cork-covered tabletops and menus, wine-barrel light fixtures, and a giant grapevine slowly entrapping the kitchen staff. At the center of the rustic space, a big table carved from a single mighty tree trunk holds a scrumptious brunch spread every Sunday. In fine weather, diners can take their beverages and bites out to the expansive patio.
