Within Studio Movie Grill's expansive auditoriums, towering screens enrapture audiences seated in plush leather recliners and at dining tables. As the familiar celebrity faces in blockbuster and cult-classic features deliver Oscar-worthy lines, sneakily quiet waiters deliver meals from a full menu decorated with more than 100 items, including gourmet pizzas, smoked ribs, and cocktails infused with the spirit of Daniel Day-Lewis. Bartenders at the lobby bar dole out glasses of premium liquors, wines, and draft beer before and after shows.

Q&A with Sue, Manager

When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?

After having children of my own, I discovered how difficult it can be to find a nice, secure place for them to play and release some energy. Seeing the faces of the kids light up when they enter the inflatable room is the best part of this job. They enter the facility thinking it is just another business?until they see the inflatables and that's when the excitement begins.

What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?

We have an indoor inflatable room where kids can run around and have some fun without being outside in the heat.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

Arcade room is also part of the weekday play, and it doesn't require coins. On weekdays only, unlimited play runs Monday?Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Kids also receive a drink and a snack with their entrance during these times. Weekends are reserved for private parties.

Now in its second year, the West Houston Food Truck Festival brings together nine food trucks to sell their edible wares outside Temple Sinai. This year's event promises to be bigger and better than the last, with three bands poised to rock the crowd with heartfelt ballads about street tacos and snow cones. A family-friendly affair, the event will also host balloon artists, face painters, and organized games for kids. It's all in the name of support with a portion of the proceeds going to the Houston Food Bank, and never has charity tasted so good. With local gems such as The Waffle Bus and What's Up Cupcake on hand, it's best to come with a big appetite.

You'll never go hungry at Viva Cinema. That's because staff not only keep sodas and popcorns topped off with free refills, but also encourage guests to bring in leftovers from the attached Mexican restaurant, Viva Cantina. They extend this level of love for the community by adding Spanish subtitles to most movies, and showing free family films one day per week and free horror shows on Wednesdays after dark. They also bring in local producers and actors to talk about their films in an effort to promote local artists.

Rave Motion Pictures screens the summer blockbusters in 20 auditoriums outfitted with stadium seating. The theaters' digital projectors allow projectionists to easily play such gripping tales as Scream 4, a documentary about Sidney Prescott's return to Woodsboro, where Ghostface threatens the townspeople's safety (movies playing subject to change). Stretch out while watching as rows are spaced 48 inches apart from one another, one for each of the states recognized by most public-school systems. Check showtimes online for all the movies screening throughout the summer.
