Koko FitClub’s digital keys unlock personalized strength-training regimens tailored to each guest’s abilities and goals. Each user receives a small, USB-like device that stores personal fitness data, which is extracted during an initial fitness consultation. During each workout, guests plug their keys into the host of strength-training and cardio equipment. Based on the key’s data, the machines display the user’s ideal strength-training and resistance level or number of reps for each session—and even rate how they’re performing. The system adapts routines as members work toward their goals, offering them the intelligence of a personal trainer without the costly fees or hassle of matching schedules. Online tracking further digitizes training, allowing users to see their progress on their home computers, in the very same browser where they’ll soon order smaller clown suits.
After the passing of her mother, Sandi Pedersen was at a low point when she first discovered quilting. Not only did the practice raise her spirits, but it also became her livelihood. In a few short years, she learned the ropes and opened her own studio, Quilting Your Quilts, which houses a computer-run, long-arm sewing machine. In this studio, she shares her expertise in quilting classes and long arms your quilt top and back to complete the patterned quilt.
A 7,100-yarder with a par of 72, the course at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club represents the design vision of famed PGA Tour champion Greg Norman, nicknamed “The Shark” for his tendency to chew a course's grass before deciding to play it. Norman’s own turf company supplied the hybrid Bermudagrass tees, fairways, and rough for the course, while Floradwarf constitutes the gently undulating and generously rewarding putting surfaces. This greenery is surrounded by native prairie grasses, wetlands, and wildflowers as well as a majestic hardwood forest.
Before tackling the course, players can bring their game up to speed at the club’s Player Development Center. The same GN-1 turf featured out on the course covers the tee areas at the driving range as well as the pitching greens and practice fairway. And all areas are stocked with towels and fresh water for drinking or dumping on your instructor when your swing finally clicks.
Aromas of grilled Black Angus burgers waft through All Stars Family Grill, where play spaces for toddlers to 12-year-olds are as much of an attraction as the hearty American fare. Entrees, sandwiches, and kid-size meals appear at the pickup counter with complimentary soft-serve ice cream, which incentivizes alfresco dining at picnic benches on the large, concrete patios. A pair of playgrounds, one designed for toddlers and the other for ages 5?12, entertains kids with slides and tunnels. Inside, wooden tables sprawl out under a checkerboard ceiling, which also decorates three private rooms ready with 50-inch plasma high-definition TVs and AV equipment. An arcade buzzes with 13 games including Madden and Target Terror, and flat-screen TVs sprinkled throughout the restaurant display sports, breaking news, and cartoons.
