The creators of the The Colorful 5K use the term ?run? very loosely. Less of a race, and more a celebration of the human spirit, The Colorful 5K encourages participants to dash, dance, prance, skip, cartwheel, or walk the course as they douse each other in vibrant hues that span the full spectrum. Each run also donates a portion of proceeds to a local charity, which range from Special Olympics affiliates and scholarship funds to city cleanup and beautification projects.

The Total Jingle Bell Run & Walk spurs more than 5,000 antler-clad participants to swarm through downtown Houston in the name of charity, fitness, and celebration of the holiday season. Like Santa's reindeer before the sleigh got GPS, the event explores several different routes, including a 5-mile course for runners and a shorter, less intense 3-mile course for families. After everyone has crossed the finish line, awards honor the fleetest of foot in each age group, as well as individuals donning the best holiday-themed costumes. All proceeds raised by the race get poured into the YMCA's partner campaign, which provides scholarship money to those in need of academic aid.

Sponsored by the global philanthropists of Trafigura, the Run for the House is an inclusive 5K?10K event for competitive runners, families, and four-paws, with all proceeds benefiting Ronald McDonald House Houston, which provides a home away from home for children being treated in Texas Medical Center Hospitals. Embarking from Sam Houston Park, the race splits into two events. A challenging and competitive 10K run tests the mettle of athletes vying for medals while the 5K run/family walk lets participants take a leisurely approach and even permits canine companions, with Ronald McDonald House Houston's resident pooch, Mogie, leading the pack.
