Wolf River Adventures, a partner of Rustic Wolf Inn, launches kayaks and canoes into Wisconsin's tranquil waters. Their shuttles ferry customers, chosen watercrafts, and rubber ducky stowaways to various launch points along the Wolf River and Embarrass River. Once there, vessels can float through 80 miles of undeveloped flat waters. Trees shade paddlers as they peak into the private lives of local wildlife or pause to cast fishing lines out into the river.

Owned and operated by the Village of Howard, this 9-hole, par 36 municipal course welcomes orb smashers with twisting water hazards, challenging bunkers, and pristine tree-lined fairways obscured by teasing turns from the tee box. Seasoned swingers will be able to navigate doubles drive carts ($15 value) with sidekicks or parole officers around the hilly landscapes of the course's varying holes, including the its signature 161-yard Hole 5, which forces golfers to tee off over a large lagoon and avoid the trash-talking trees that yell the names of obscure French films while you're trying to putt. Those famished from the fairway can return to the clubhouse for a frosty brew and a weekly fish fry, featuring salmon, grouper, walleye, and more.

Signing up for a class at Karate America is like taking the first steps in a long, fruitful journey. The instructors—who have more black belts than even the most fashionable country music stars—start teaching students as young as 4 years old in the Little Ninjas program. Up next is the Junior Basic class, where kids begin to master essential skills like discipline and focus. The most committed students can join the black-belt team and then move on to the masters team upon earning their belts. To accommodate everyone who wants to learn self-defense techniques, the instructors also teach adult classes.
