Though they originally opened as Renaissance Hair Removal in 2005, the team behind The Med Spa quickly realized that their clients were seeking different ways to look younger and feel more beautiful. They would later changed their name to reflect the breadth of their newly added services, which now include laser treatments, skincare, and teeth whitening. In addition to removing hair, they can target acne, rosacea, or wrinkles with laser technology, or perform non-laser resurfacing HydraFacials that infuse skin with moisture. The clinic also offers the Diamond Medilift: a noninvasive macro- and micro-current procedure that stimulates facial muscles better than watching Animal House and Beaches simultaneously on two separate TVs.
Four of Fuze Salon's stylists have more than a decade of experience, and Artistic Director Chip Perry has spent more than two decades in the business. Perry spent time as a national performing artist for Redken and specialized in teaching corrective color at the Redken Exchange, so it’s no surprise the salon uses ammonia-free Redken Chromatics dye as its go-to. Like Fievel Mousekewitz, his journey to happiness began with petty theft. His online biography describes how he would commandeer his neighbors' dolls as a child and "spend hours trying to twist the two inches of fiber into different shapes.” Now, he styles brides and men's cuts with equal dexterity, and keeps his hands busy raising two dogs, contributing to the boards of two charitable organizations, and rallying the community around philanthropic drives and walks.
Under the generous leadership of owner Toneia Powell, a resident stylist and graduate of the Redken Exchange NYC and Yamaguchi Academy, the salon team provides a bevy of services ranging from hair cuts and styles for men ($25–$30) and women ($45–$50) to advanced texture services (priced upon consultation) to color services paired with a cut and style ($90 and up). Feel free to arrive with a follicular game plan, or, if preferred, take advantage of the salon's free consultation policy.
In 2004 Bradley Sanders traveled around the country educating other stylists on L'Oréal Professional brands and color techniques. The following year he moved to Las Vegas and studied under world-renowned platform artist Robert Cromeans and Ambush Makeover's William Whatley. After learning as much as he could from the experts and their poorly hidden diaries, he moved back to the Southeast and partnered with L'Oréal to open Groove Salon, a Paul Mitchell–focused salon, in 2007. Today, Bradley, who has been accepted into the Paul Mitchell national educator's program, captains a team of talented stylists and colorists inside Groove's hip, redbrick studio.
If you’re looking for variety, MC3 Salon & Wellness Center doesn’t disappoint with a service menu that reads like an encyclopedia of salon and spa treatments. Led by 28-year veteran Mickey Coffino, the salon’s stylists revitalize hair with everything from simple cuts to keratin straightening treatments. Not to be outdone, the spa’s nail technicians hydrate hands in warm paraffin wax and brush vibrant OPI polish across nails during manicures and pedicures.
As if that weren’t enough, the spa’s licensed aestheticians soothe and restore skin with nearly 20 services for the face and body. MC3’s services extend far beyond what you might expect from a traditional spa—there’s even a 20-minute teeth-whitening treatment that brightens teeth by up to 10 shades to attract strangers or blind unsuspecting enemies.
At Legacy Hair Center, Ronnie Talent, who has performed more than 12,000 hair-replacement and hair-restoration consultations, leads his team in tending to clients' coifs. From natural, nonsurgical hair replacement for both men and women to laser hair therapy, Legacy’s service can help bolster head coverage. The team also affixes strands with hair extensions, which come in handy for towers with out-of-service elevators.
