In 2004 Bradley Sanders traveled around the country educating other stylists on L'Oréal Professional brands and color techniques. The following year he moved to Las Vegas and studied under world-renowned platform artist Robert Cromeans and Ambush Makeover's William Whatley. After learning as much as he could from the experts and their poorly hidden diaries, he moved back to the Southeast and partnered with L'Oréal to open Groove Salon, a Paul Mitchell–focused salon, in 2007. Today, Bradley, who has been accepted into the Paul Mitchell national educator's program, captains a team of talented stylists and colorists inside Groove's hip, redbrick studio.

He quickly scales its blue back, his hands and feet pushing into its soft surface. In a few moments, he's at the top; he surveys the drop for a few seconds before diving headfirst down its slippery slope, landing with a splash. He's the birthday boy, and the puffy blue mountain is the 18-foot inflatable Super Splash slide from Smile Bounce. It's just one of the colorful bounce houses that—along with snow-cone and popcorn machines—make for fun party accents. Clients also can rent folding chairs and tables, tents, and electric generators to host a proper party.

The sound of feet slapping on the padded ground and little voices twisted by constant motion fill Xtreme Play. Enjoy watching your youngsters as they bounce from inflatable obstacles or squeal down slides. At the gaming area, small hands grab Wii and PlayStation controllers, simulating adventures through castles and the civil-service tests to become a castle inspector. The babble of special events drifts from private party rooms, where pizzas fuel fetes.

In his 10 years of working as an event planner, Mike Shelton has realized one crucial truth: kids love to jump around. Mike's Moonwalks revolves around this maxim, supplying youths with a safe and clean space to leap. With an inventory of bounce-houses that includes an inflatable castle and a tropically themed slide—available dry or as a watery plunge—he brings buoyant fun to birthday parties, fundraisers, and carnivals. He and his crew handle the delivery and set-up, and then disassemble the inflatables once the celebration is over. Clients can reserve a bounce house for just two or three hours or for an entire day, which is usually how long it takes to fool yourself into thinking that you'll be able to dunk a basketball during your next scrimmage game.
