Stable Mates Equestrian Center facilitates proper technique in the saddle through year-round riding lessons, summer camps, and polo instruction. The outfit specializes in teaching students the gait of walk-trot during riding lessons and oversees riders’ advancement all the way up to the grand-prix level. The onsite professional instructor teaches both horseback-riding and polo lessons, helping novices to develop basic riding skills, practice mallet work, and understand the rules that govern the sport of kings, which can only be changed by the decree of another king. Summer camps held from June through August enlighten participants in the areas of riding and stable management, in addition to hosting equine entertainment such as shows and games.
All City Cosmetic Dental Care marches through toothly trenches under the experienced generalship of Dr. Boris Yusupov, a graduate from the New York University College of Dentistry. Committed to cutting-edge cleaning technology, Dr. Yusupov is constantly foraging for new ways to help folks say cheese and consume cheese with confidence. During your visit, Dr. Yusupov or one of his many All City experts will peer deep into your mouth for signs of trouble. They'll degunk your charming chompers, snap four bitewing x-rays for the All City yearbook, and address any concerns, pains, or existential ennui before sending your pearly pals packing.
At Rik Kellerman's Ten Tigers Kung-Fu Academy, history is headmaster. The instructors practice authentic Chinese kung-fu, using techniques based on centuries-old guidelines. The academy's preferred style, Siu Lum Hung Kuen, uses movements inspired by five animals: the dragon, the snake, the leopard, the crane, and the tiger. Together, these maneuvers display both grace and power, much like a Supreme Court justice who knows ballet.
The staff teaches students of all ages how to channel the tenets of kung-fu for self-defense. That said, classes focus less on fighting and more on cultivating a sense of family. Encouragement and camaraderie underlie every lesson, whether you're learning how to engage in hand-to-hand combat or how to wield classical weaponry. Classes at Ten Tigers are also a cultural experience—in addition to sparring moves, they might cover meditation, Chinese herbal medicine, or costumed Lion Dancing choreography.
