John F. Hogan Jr. was a consistent man. He had been clocking in to the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company’s corporate office in Akron each day for more than 25 years, learning the ins and outs of its tires. Then, in 1984, he made a slight change. He decided to move to Virginia, open Hogan & Sons Goodyear, and share his knowledge of Goodyear’s tires there. Since then, his business has grown right along with his family—there are now eight locations and many more Hogans. All of the full-service automotive shops have complimentary shuttles and, of course, Goodyear tires. The full-service auto repair shop is staffed by continually trained ASE-certified technicians, who swap out motor oil, realign wheels, inspect brakes, and teach air-conditioning units how to whistle during maintenance and repair services. They service all makes and models and include a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty on all their work.
As a certified dealership, Kip Killmon's Tysons Ford offers an inventory of crisp new-model Fords, preowned vehicles, a quick lube center, and a comprehensive service and parts department. Factory-fresh sedans, SUVs, and trucks discuss their dream garages from inside the showroom, and preowned rides of all makes and models brag of low mileage and street savvy. In the service department, technicians treat domestic, Asian, and European cars to oil changes, repairs, and maintenance services.
Committed to the environment as much as they are to customer satisfaction, the auto bathers at Flagship Carwash coddle dusty vehicles with eco-friendly chemicals and the green LEED-certified water system found at their Herndon location. From eight locations across the Washington, DC, area, they vacuum rugs and wipe down dashboards before cars bask in a high-pressure tunnel wash. Technicians also break out the elbow grease for hands-on detailing services, scraping off splattered bugs and tar, buffing exteriors to remove scratches, or spiffing up interiors to obscure werewolf gashes in leather seats. To restore smooth surfaces, they touch up paint on car bodies and remove small dents by popping the metal back into place.
Capitol Auto Land’s mechanics do everything. At the full-service shop they go to work flushing fluids, adjusting brakes, aligning wheels, and tweaking air conditioners. Their services cover all makes and models, so they can help out whether an El Camino's engine needs a complete rebuild or an Aztek's onboard computer won't stop screaming in its sleep. With a huge inventory of parts at hand, they quickly carry out their missions while customers watch the big-screen TV and sip complimentary beverages in the lounge. For routine maintenance such as tire rotations and oil changes, the crew sends out friendly emails to remind drivers that it's time to stop by.
Automotive Express's highly trained, ASE–certified technicians maintain and repair vehicles with routine tune-ups, engine service, towing, and detailed diagnostics. Team members use ACDelco parts to fill in missing or nonworking components and fuse their services with convenience measures, keeping customers well informed with free, advanced estimates, online maintenance scheduling, and soothsaying hood ornaments capable of predicting impending speeding tickets.
