The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous centers understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of a skills assessment using diagnostic tools and one-on-one interviews.
Tutors work with students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. Camps and after-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.
Children are best equipped to develop analytical skills for current and future learning between the formative ages of 3.5 and 14. That's why Best Brains sets students off on the right foot by offering focused courses in subjects such as math, English, abacus, and general knowledge. Certified teachers help students develop skills in writing, grammar, critical thinking word problems, and basic computational math, using an abacus counting tool to help develop spatial memory.
Dynamic Defense Concepts uses a comprehensive approach to firearms training and self-defense. Its instructors teach basic, intermediate, and advanced NRA classes in pistols, rifles, and shotguns. Students can also schedule private lessons, which combine firearms training with martial arts and other self-defense disciplines.

Center Ring Circus School believes that learning is best achieved through play and that a relaxed mind is the only way to approach complex physical tasks. Founded by Gregory May, a former clown with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, the school seeks to share the magical quality of circus-arts skills with a broader audience. Students study and master the trapeze, silks, stilt-walking, and partner acrobatics in a supportive and noncompetitive environment.
