Founders Joe and Sue Moore wanted to create a professional salon for stylists and clients to gather and collaborate. It wasn't until they teamed up with their son Travis and designer David Yeager that they were able to follow through with their vision. Today, MDG salon | studio boasts two exquisite, modern spaces that flaunt two-story windows and an interior adorned with industrial and classy touches, as well as a full list of expert stylists.
Typically performed entirely separate from one another, tanning and laundry can now be enjoyed in one facility thanks to Laundry & Tan Connection. The company’s collection of tanning beds grants customers a wide range of skin hues, from sun kissed to deep bronze, and its VersaSpa spray-tan booths deliver a tan that lasts seven days. Meanwhile, high-capacity washers and dryers whir as they cleanse clothes, their gentle humming reminding tanners that they’ll never again have to choose between cleaning a shirt or getting a tan.
In every private tanning room at Sun Spot, a shelf and hangers ensconce clothes and satchels. Shoes flop to the floor next to comfortable seating, slipping from the feet of patrons adjusting the volume on personal AM/FM stereos-CD players before the UV bed coaxes out melanin. The UV beds range across six levels of tanning power and sport adjustable body fans so guests can stay cool or find an excuse to redesign the north wing of a house of cards. A parade of clients wanders from VersaSpa booths, which darken skin with a bronzing elixir infused with custom color and moisturizer designed to hide the effects of aging. Slipping out past swaying bamboo plants, visitors pass beneath infrared slimming machines and glass shelves that brim with a rainbow of sun-luring lotions from Norvell and Devoted Creations.
Judging by the invigorating decor, which pairs lime- and teal-accented walls with a checkerboard floor, the people and poodles that visit Air Tan in search of a makeover feel refreshed before their treatments even start. The spa specializes in using a natural, organic tanning solution to apply a healthy-looking glow to skin. Its hair-salon menu includes cuts, color, and texturizing services, and spa treatments pamper skin, nails, and even ears.
Rather than just coating skin in a single color, the experienced tanning artist at Bronze Boutique customizes spray tans to highlight clients' best features while simulating a natural glow. During the 10-minute sessions, she mists skin with all-natural, all natural tanning solution infused with aloe, lemon peel, and macadamia seed oil to leave skin hydrated and soft. The tan develops over the next few hours and is designed to last up to 10 days.
A family-owned company, Family Tans, Inc. helps bronze bodies inside its spacious facility with custom spray tans and high-end tanning booths, and further primps exteriors with body wraps, hair treatments, and nail services. Private rooms host a range of different beds and amenities, from the SunDash Gold Series equipment to powerful Avantgarde 600 booths—which feature facial tanners, cool air, and a built in radio for listening to music. Premium UVA bulbs grace the upright and upgraded beds, delivering rays that penetrate deeper into the skin. Hides can also gain some color with custom airbrush spray tans, which are applied by hand to deliver an even, UV-free sheen. The staff also provides teeth whitening, massage treatments, and body wraps. For an additional fee, parents can leave their clan at the onsite childcare while they partake in spa and salon services.
