Fitness industry veteran Dulcinea Lee Hellings's goal is to bring a high-quality, effective exercise regimen to people who don't love big gyms or can't afford personal trainers. In 2004, she realized that mornings could be used for more than hitting the snooze button over and over for two hours, and founded Boot Camp "Morning Crunch!" to help fledgling exercisers whip into shape.
She designs her all-levels programs to be scream-free morning motivators⎯the first stop in her patrons' journey of daily accomplishments. The fast-paced, ever-changing circuit of strength and cardio exercises keeps bodies guessing and minds from becoming bored. Each of the boot camp's 12 outdoor locations has a different dedicated trainer who gets to know each student personally, remembering their names and memorizing any interesting freckle patterns. They complement their morning routines with a smattering of evening options for those who prefer to work out after the day's activities.
The certified personal trainers at Workout LA Bootcamp help clients lose weight and gain confidence during four-week bootcamp sessions. The varied outdoor workouts incorporate athletic drills, calisthenics, Pilates moves, and even yoga poses, all of which can be adapted to different fitness level. No matter where you start, exercises increase in intensity over the course of the session, so that regulars remain challenged throughout the four weeks. Other benefits of the program include increased strength and endurance, better posture, deeper relaxation, and the ability to outrun any bogeymen living under the hallway stairs.
Sweatfit LA’s co-owners, Brian Tucker and Sam Lopez, both hold personal-training certifications, which they use to create workouts that blend both exercise theory and fitness training. Huw Lloyd Davies and Stu White started HDX Fit as a place where they can help others improve their own health and fitness. The center's training principles are built upon holistic health awareness, the fundamentals of nutrition, and metabolic conditioning. Alongside an excellent supporting staff, the team curates a curriculum of group training classes, personal-training sessions, nutrition consultations, and holistic life coaching.
HDX Fit also offers an online training program, a portal full of videos and written workouts for people who can’t make it to classes because their motorized unicycles are out of gas. The online program includes a weekly telephone chat with one of the gym’s trainers, who speaks to the philosophy of the center's inspirational founder.
