Inside a newly constructed 7,000-square-foot facility, Dojo 3's certified and seasoned instructors lead students in a variety of fitness classes. D3 CrossFit classes combine constant variation and multiple modalities to help athletes develop their abilities and improve their health. While adult guests participate in kinesthetic renaissances, a watchful staffer supervises kids aged 3 and older as they amble around the kids' play area. The fitness center also features conveniences such as a changing room and ample parking, offering easy access that encourages patrons to fit workouts into their daily routines instead of fitting them into someone else's.
Nary a stationary bike or weight machine sits inside Renton City CrossFit. Instead, the gym is filled with pull-up bars, kettlebells, and barbells, and ample floor space welcomes people to work on squats, running, and jumping. Here, CrossFit-certified trainers customize workouts each day for clients, depending on whether they want to build strength, improve balance, or develop x-ray vision. Each workout is based around functional exercises that mimic normal day-to-day movements, and, for maximum benefit, the routines are constantly changing to keep the body guessing and avoid workout plateaus.
Everyday, Robert Sax and the rest of CrossFit Amped’s coaches create brand new workouts steeped in functional fitness. Their hands-on approach to training includes showing clients the proper form when weightlifting, swinging Kettlebells, and flipping giant tractor tires onto the car of a mean boss. Classes run daily and are tailored to ensure that each participant is challenged, no matter their fitness abilities.

What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
You won't hear our students' landings. It's a little secret called "ninja noise." This helps keep impact low, and stealth high.
As the old adage says, "Stuff happens." What training do you and your staff have to stay ahead of the unexpected?
Coaches are legitimately certified to teach Parkour, holding multiple parkour certifications. We are expert momentum anticipators and course creators. We minimize risk through safety drills, multi-level skill progressions and strength milestones. [Instructors are] First Aid– and CPR-trained in case anything happens. However we have not had one serious injury in the three years we've been coaching due to our safety protocols.
What is the experience customers can expect, and how do you make it special?
Through our classes students can expect to experience life-changing techniques. Ranging from the simple truths of how to squat sustainably to how to traverse lava while having fun and collecting speed and style points.
Father-daughter duo David and Danielle Pelham co-own Velocity Taekwondo, where they join up with a small team of coaches to share their love of martial arts and training with anyone interested. Danielle won the 2009 World Taekwondo Federation championships, and David is an award-winning taekwondo competition coach. Together with CrossFit and MMA trainers, they equip clients with fighting and fitness skills. Taekwondo is the focus, however—the academy has its own competition team, and after-school programs accommodate the schedules of children and sentient pencils.
"Discipline is an act of freedom." United Fitness Center's motto sums up the facility's approach to working out. By offering up high-intensity classes that challenge its members' willpower, agility, and endurance, the center pushes participants to dedicate themselves to life-changing fitness. The center furthers this end goal by incorporating the Fittest Warrior system, which tracks members' workout routines and nutrition, ensuring they are overhauling their lifestyles rather than sending their clone, whose DNA has been spliced with a bodybuilder's, to the gym.
