Salon Infinity's expertly trained team explores beauty's limitless possibilities with a menu of aesthetically driven services for hair, nails, and skin. The staff keeps abreast of current trends and hones its skills via ongoing training sessions and seminars, and each of its services deploys products from trusted brands including Redken, Pureology, and OPI. Before hair treatments, coiffeurs conduct in-depth consultations with each client to determine a suitable cut or color tailored to flatter individual features and personal styles. In private rooms segregated from the bustling styling stations, nail technicians dole out foot massages, soothing soaks, manicures, and pedicures, which make feet more presentable and less likely to hide inside Thanksgiving turkeys.
Aspirations Salon’s bright green walls and light wood floors surround stylist Magan as she slathers Redken products into clients’ hair and divorces unwanted strand length from their heads. She also imbues manes with a new hue or highlights that range from a soft golden tone to the color of your favorite jelly bean.
Celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2012, Styles Hair Studio enhances its clients' natural beauty with hair, nail, and waxing services doled out by an experienced team. Each stylist and colorist takes part in continuing education to stay ahead of current styling techniques and other contestants on Beauty Jeopardy! The TIGI Professional salon also holds an annual Cut-A-Thon to benefit local school and charities, including the American Cancer Society.
Renewed Spirit’s stylists and technicians stride across the salon’s open expanse to greet customers as they walk in the door, adding to the sense of warmth engendered by walls lined with charming artwork. The salon's experienced staff members—all of whom posses at least six years of industry experience—specialize in a vast spectrum of spa and beauty services. Inside private treatment rooms, massage therapists untie knots in backs with gliding Swedish strokes and deep-tissue kneads. Warm swathes of wax rid arms, legs, torsos, and complexions of unwanted follicular menaces, and the nail bar stocks CND Shellac polish to fend off chips from teething piranhas. While customers indulge in the spa experience, the staff pours complimentary cups of coffee and tea and ushers tikes over to a dedicated playroom.
When the Douglas J Aveda Institute opened in Knoxville in 2011, it joined a family of institutes and salons that Douglas Weaver started in the 1960s. Here, Aveda students pursue certification in cosmetology and esthiology while practicing their craft on real clients under the supervision of licensed educators. And because students perform the services, the rates are lower than at traditional salons. The Knoxville treatment menu includes hair design—cuts, color, retexturizing—as well as Aveda’s Elemental Nature facials, pedicures, and manicures.
The Institute is inside the historic S&W Grand building, a handsome art-deco landmark that, like a compassionate fairy-tale prince, is equally handsome on the inside. The spa rooms have a rustic balance of exposed brick and wood paneling, and the salon’s geometric light fixtures gleam upon checkerboard tile floors and industrial shelving lined with Aveda’s signature products.
