Malachi "Be Life" Mann became fascinated with drums and keyboards at age 5, so his career as a producer and engineer likely came as a surprise to no one. At SpaceBar Recording, he channels more than a decade of industry experience into producing hip-hop, R&B, pop, and rock tracks. He also uses his credentials as a certified Pro Tools engineer, providing lessons that go over the essentials of recording, mixing, and production.
A traditional layout of kempt bent-grass fairways and greens, Wedgwood Country Club's gently rolling 18-hole course wends through a dense thicket of trees, bunkers, and ponds. Measuring 7,100 yards from the farthest tees, the par-72 course eases clubbers into the round with a relatively open front nine before testing their accuracy and squirrel diplomacy on a tight, tree-lined back nine. With four sets of tees, the course presents a par-hunting test to all players, from beginners to those who can wallop a drive more than 300 yards.

Inflated structures, slides, and games fill the climate-controlled environs of the numerous BounceU locations that speckle the nation. At each site, staff members closely monitor all activities as little ones traverse obstacle courses or pull on oversized inflatable boxing gloves. The crew also invites parents to join in on the fun, letting them bounce alongside their kids or make sweeping edicts from atop a bouncy-castle throne.
In addition to open sessions, the indoor-play haven sets the stage for the Preschool Playdate program, where instructors lead games and activities. Special events include family-bounce night, which lets parents join in the bouncing or relax in the party room and do grownup things, such as eat marshmallows with a knife and fork.
Star Career Academy is staffed by many instructors who work at the academy's eight campuses. Students can also learn from professional chefs, such as Francesco Martorella, who specializes in incorporating unique ingredients in ethnic dishes, and earned a nod as one of the city's best new chefs. Star Career's offers training under a variety of umbrellas, from the culinary arts to medical services, including training for medical assistants, paramedics, and dialysis technicians. Founded in 1979, the academy has evolved to offer other programs, too, such as cosmetology and hospitality management.

Play N Trade, an independently owned boutique, stocks a vast arsenal of gear for gamers playing on systems ranging from Atari to PlayStation 3 and seeking gently-used nostalgic classics or the latest pixelated adventure. Players peruse a library of new games ($19.99–$59.99) for consoles such as Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, and Wii, and—with the Try Before You Buy policy—ensure games are more challenging than a race against a chubby child on a pogo stick. In addition to the variety of new titles, Play N Trade also carries retro games and consoles including Atari and Nintendo, as well as rare Japanese imports. Used games ($9.99–$49.99) all undergo a thorough inspection before being added to the Play N Trade collection, and the store upholds a 30-day return policy in the event that a game is defective or fire-flower gardens refuse to grow.
