Priscilla was born in Bristol, England in 1967. She toiled in public transportation until the 1980s, when she begrudgingly entered early retirement. She spent some of it in Liverpool, and some in Flitwick, but eventually succumbed to the promise of greener pastures in the U.S.—she moved to Kansas in 1993, and eventually settled in Tennessee.

Priscilla is the double-decker bus that Rufus, the owner of Nashville Double Decker, loads up with guests before touring the city. The idea for a bus-tour company came to him before his second deployment with the Tennessee Army National Guard on a visit to Nashville. He took a trolley tour that left him disappointed. The tour didn’t cross any of the city’s bridges, and he couldn’t enjoy some of Nashville’s best views thanks to the trolley’s closed top. So while Rufus was still overseas, he convinced a friend to drive Priscilla across the country from Washington, and now she shows guests the sites around Nashville.

Sportations connects amateur adrenaline jockeys to certified professional adventurers, drawing from a nationwide network of aeronauts and speed demons to introduce habitual pedestrians to the wonders of skydiving, ballooning, hang gliding, and stock-car racing. Thrill seekers can zipline across a forest canopy, hollering like Tarzan or taunting nearby birds until they agree to race. Helicopter tours ferry patrons skyward over landmarks and cityscapes, whereas paragliding adventures get up close and personal with blue skies and clouds. For most sports, Sportations accommodates groups of any size, from physics classes empirically proving gravity's existence to solo ballooning supervillains declaring dominion over all they see.

Q&A with Jerry And Liz Bates, Owner

Apart from your business's main attraction, do you offer any "hidden" services or activities that visitors are always delighted to learn about?
In the two hours you spend at Southern Estate Alpacas, we will roll out the Southern Hospitality while teaching you what we call Alpaca 101, where you will learn the origins of alpacas and what they are used for. You will get a tour of our farm store where Groupon guests enjoy a 15 percent discount on any exquisite products made from our elite herd of alpacas.

From there, you will get to meet our friendly fuzzy friends that can’t wait to enjoy a snack right from your hand. This is a great photo opportunity that will look great on your social media page or even the family Christmas card. You will also get introduced to our “fainting” and “baby dwarf” goats. Farm visits are by appointment, so call ahead to reserve your spot.

What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
Alpacas only have bottom teeth so they can't bite; no horns or hooves, so you don't have to be afraid of them.

What is the one feature of your business that you're most proud of?
The elite herd of champion alpacas we have on our farm and the exquisite products we offer in our farm store.
