Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
We have a fun, family atmosphere that provides a variety of methods and benchmark goals to keep members motivated and on track.
What is a typical session of your program or class like for a student?
We go through a group warm up, learn a new skill or work on a existing skill. Then we set up for the workout. The workouts are constantly varied; they can be done as an individual, performed with a partner or small team.
Though he may look intimidating garbed in camo and shiny military boots, the head instructor at C.G.R. Fitness—C.G.R. stands for “clients getting results”—motivates his students with positive reinforcement, instead of the threat of latrine duty. Students of all sizes and fitness levels don their C.G.R.-issued dog tags and prepare to push themselves to their physical limits during the basic-training-style boot-camp classes. The indoor/outdoor classes focus on functional training, meaning that students build strength and stamina as they heave barbells, leap up and down steps, and drag tires until they agree to stop heckling you. In addition to chiseling sculpted physiques during personal-training sessions, clients can improve their health with self-defense, nutrition, and Zumba classes.
2DFit fosters a total-body approach to physical fitness by focusing their gym on just three types of group exercise classes: spinning, boot camp, and core conditioning. Open to patrons of all experience levels, their indoor cycling classes have the potential to help participants burn up to 1,000 calories an hour with low impact yet high intensity aerobic spin sessions. Core and boot camp classes help bulk up the muscles revealed by cycling's fat-burning effects by combining an array of strengthening moves to improve flexibility, stamina, and Terminator impressions.
At Steel Mill Crossfit & Gym, a team of trainers helps students set and meet fitness goals. Daily classes incorporate a workout of the day, which is scaled in intensity to suit the fitness level of each individual. Exercisers also receive nutrition instruction and one-on-one guidance during the small-group sessions.
Each 60 minute Jazzercize class incorporates moves from hip-hop, yoga, Pilates, jazz dance, kickboxing, and resistance training (with handheld weights) to a total-body workout complete with cardio, strength training, and stretching techniques. Dancing With the Stars multiple-champion Cheryl Burke is a big fan of Jazzercise's improvisational workouts, though luckily you won't need her dance moves to get the most out of your class. If you're prone to first-class jitters, simply review the basic moves online before you go. Expect to burn off up to 500 calories with each go-round.
Before he became a certified personal trainer in 2008, Daniel Cone served in the US Army for two years in an infantry division that specializes in parachute operations. Today, he uses his military training to lead boot-camp classes and personal-fitness programs at Xtreme Fitness. The indoor and outdoor boot-camp classes incorporate weight training and a range of exercises such as lunges, jumping jacks, and shoulder dips. Daniel or another certified instructor performs individual body adjustments throughout the class and modifies exercises in order to accommodate all fitness levels. Xtreme Fitness enhances personal-fitness programs with cross training, fitness evaluations, and nutrition and lifestyle coaching. For a more relaxing workout, clients can take a morning yoga class or do pushups during a bubble bath.
