Light is important to Diamonds&Desire's photographers. They take an advanced and creative approach to lighting, using strobe lights and modifiers to ensure that they can shoot in any location. Priding themselves on not depending on natural lighting, they can capture dynamic images even in dark bars and the Realm of the Shadow People. They make sure that their photographs are not underexposed or blown out, and can manipulate lights to make the images look stylized or as though they had been taken in natural light. And their main studio, too, is decked out with professional lighting, ready to host commercial shoots, fashion editorials, and client sessions. The skilled photographers deftly illuminate the scene as they snap family portraits, head shots, and sensual boudoir images.
Green Toes' photographer likes to capture the candid moments, as that's where she thinks you'll find the real story. And telling stories through pictures is her goal. She spins those tales during shoots for families, couples, and kids. Whatever she's shooting, she relies on her experience as an event and fine art photographer to manipulate light in ways that convey the emotion of the moment. Her event experience means she's also great at covering weddings with the same attention to light and the unfolding story.
The staff at Barnett's has been conserving the artwork of others with custom-made frames since 1951. Using molding that ranges in intricacy from plain black borders to the gold-leaf-trimmed arabesques of a Louis XIII–style frame, framers cut enclosures to fit paintings, family treasures, valuable artwork, jerseys, and flags. Then they choose from an inventory of acid-free mats and conservation glass to sandwich art into its hermetic new home. Owner Drew Derrick-Bisbee's traditional art training, meanwhile, helps him when he’s restoring damaged frames and art, undoing destruction caused by water, fire, or a gaggle of teething babies. Barnett's showroom is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The bride seems unconcerned as the blue ocean waves lap around her billowing dream gown, turning the delicate white fabric into an organza sea creature. As the newlywed reclines on the beach, one of Blackstone Couture’s seasoned photographers snaps shots that immortalize the subject’s postwedding happiness. The laidback, whimsical nature of this Trash the Dress shoot exemplifies the business's dedication to creating stills that encapsulate the personality of each of their clients through a relaxed shooting style.
Blackstone Couture’s crew of experienced shutterbugs can be found shuttling its equipment around Jacksonville for onsite shoots at scenic landscapes or within a subject's home. The team works together to photograph all manner of life events, from weddings to portraits commemorating the day an entire extended family happened to wear the same sweater. Once they’ve screwed the caps back on their lenses, the photographers can edit imperfections from images and host them online, readying them for worldwide display.
