Super Impact Fitness Studio eschews clunky and cumbersome gym equipment for a "classes only" workout mantra, rallying physiques between exposed-brick walls and floor-to-ceiling windows for routines led by certified instructors. Guests can sync their breathing to match meditative Vinyasa yoga poses or follow intuitive Zumba dance steps for a full-body burn. Boot-camp drills merge strength and cardio training to target oft-overlooked muscles in ears and phantom limbs. Spin, dance, and mixed-martial-arts sessions—helmed by cage fighter Michael "Sharp" Sanders—also fuel fat-busting drills. The staff promotes a well-rounded approach to health with holistic lifestyle counseling and plans to lodge local artwork, theater rehearsals, and zoological exhibits smaller than a breadbox during SIF Studio Presents showcases.

JCF Boot Camp offers hour-long outdoor fitness routines, held in rain or shine, that meet three to five days per week. Each class is a smorgasbord of calorie-obliterating exercises that include circuit training, core workouts, plyometrics, boxing, cardio, and resistance, all conducted by an experienced trainer. JCF founder and fitness guru Daris Wilson will lead the charge to push participating bodies and minds during every class, paving the way for fully realized fitness goals. At boot camp, working out with others motivates you to push yourself harder, helps you stick to a regimen, and gives you the opportunity to bond with new friends over tales of general sweatiness and mutual plans to beat up the ocean.
Sunlight has barely begun to creep up the sidewalk when Coach David throws open the doors to his 2,500-square-foot facility, surveying the kettlebells, sand bags, and stretch bands arrayed within. He conducts 35-minute boot camps in this energetic atmosphere, drawing inspiration from the many success stories told by his students. For six years, David has worked as a certified personal trainer, and in that time, he’s learned to customize his fitness routines on the spot, tailoring moves to each guest’s fitness level and goals. He sends students racing through calisthenics and cardio endurance exercises, changing the routine for every class to keep minds and bodies active and the ever-watching kettlebell deities appeased. To complement the intense boot camps, he also invites students to 50-minute Vinyasa yoga classes that link breathing and movements in workouts that improve flexibility.
At Re-Fit, fitness is paramount for life inside and outside of the gym. The certified trainers helm boot-camp-style classes, striving to help patrons sculpt and condition their entire bodies. They focus on muscle-fiber development and the body's three energy systems that help fuel movement.
Most sessions take place in Central Park, where participants utilize the park's features, climbing stairs, jogging on trails, and hurdling pigeons the size of large cats. Participants cheer one another on during these physical challenges, creating a supportive environment that pushes everyone to transcend their comfort zones. The trainers also lead personal-training sessions that target clients’ goals and specialized workouts that prepare them for events, including the Men’s Health Urbanathalon. To further push their charges toward their fitness goals, they also offer nutrition supplements filled with nature-derived ingredients such as olive oil, pumpkin seeds, ginger root, and organic kelp.
Wayne Sims has been teaching for more than two decades, with experience teaching master classes in Chicago and Los Angeles. His uses his biology degree and his background as a trained dancer and athlete to create fitness routines that, unlike three-armed tracksuits, work for both male and female students. As his training program has developed and his female clientele has increased, he has developed a specialization in fitness for women, including for pre- and postnatal and menopausal clients. Today, Wayne customizes routines in personal-training and group-fitness sessions and, working with a team of experts, offers nutritional services as well.
