Meals on Wheels and More aims to improve the lives of homebound individuals and other people in need through programs that help promote independent living with dignity. Its volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals to elderly and otherwise homebound individuals in the Greater Austin area. As part of the organization's goal to help people stay healthy and independent in their own homes, it also provides grocery-shopping services, home repairs, and friendly visits and phone calls.
Melissa Glynn trains her convex lens eye on subjects to capture personality-packed portraits of spouses-to-be, families, seniors, and more. Select a picturesque location, be it a homestead, a verdant park, or a beloved catsup bottling plant, and choose from an array of portrait packages. A basic package covers a 30-minute sitting fee and gives access to an online gallery of the resulting daguerreotypes ($100). You can also use your session to commemorate the joys of engagement, newborns ($350), or the promise of potential in a post-graduation smile ($450). Glynn even offers boudoir sessions for the ladies who want their sexy preserved for all posterity.
Photographer Julia Vie named her studio in honor of her mother, who nurtured Julia's creativity from a young age and encouraged her to pursue her aspirations. Now, Julia helps other women feel powerful and beautiful with full-service boudoir photo shoots, instead of teaching them how to operate a jackhammer while wearing a hoop skirt. She helps her clients select the most flattering hairstyles and outfits while keeping shoots relaxed and fun, blending the discovery of inner strength with expressions of outer beauty. Julia strives to transform the way women see themselves, cultivating confidence, radiance, and poise.
Outfitted with a movie theater, playhouse, video games, and air hockey, Adventure Kids Playcare's daycare center boasts plenty of distractions for kids of all ages. CPR- and first-aid-certified supervisors ensure that play is safe and fair, and also engage kids with scheduled story time and group activities. Separate rooms for infants and toddlers keep youngsters at a safe distance from their elders, who are particularly vulnerable to the powerful x-rays that babies emit while teething.
The textile technicians at Village Cleaners purify wardrobes using a biodegradable solvent called DF-2000 Fluid. This hypoallergenic, eco-friendly solution is sensitive to the needs of fragile fabrics but still has the muscle to break down dirt, grime, and salad dressing around the collar. A fresh dose of solvent goes into each load, along with fresh soap and a brand new filter, to ensure that clothes emerge from the machine as clean as technologically possible and free of static, odor, and allergens.
But the process doesn’t stop there. Once clothes are clean, the staff will starch shirts if requested and replace any broken or missing buttons at no charge. A final inspection sees to it that no spot or stain escapes back into the world, and alteration, repair, and leather care tends to especially needy garments.
The experienced technicians at Hanger's Cleaners restore clothes to a clean, pressed state with hypoallergenic formulas and eco-friendly technology that keeps the environment as clean as the garments on their racks. To ensure that each piece of clothing is thoroughly freed from dirt, stains, and the spirits of department-store ghosts, staffers fill their self-cleaning laundry machines with new soap and a fresh filter before each wash and pay close attention to delicate silks and cottons during dry-cleaning treatments. The cleaners can also tackle larger household items such as sleeping bags and comforters, as well as leather, suede, and wedding gowns.
