Dr. Specs Optical was founded in Kelowna in 1987 to offer patients exquisitely crafted lenses at prices they could afford. Today at the high-tech optical lab under new ownership, skilled technicians continue to churn out perfectly formed lenses in as little as one hour, with varieties ranging from simple uncoated prescriptions to polarized Drivewear lenses. The knowledgeable and friendly staff helps clients select from more than 1,000 varieties of frames, including many new lines, and make recommendations based on face shape, lifestyle, and probability of being mistaken for a professor.
Dr. Specs give back to the surrounding community by donating eyeglasses once a year to churches, Rotary Clubs, and hospitals. During mission trips, the team helps disadvantaged communities live fuller, happier, and easier lives by supplying them with prescription glasses.
Inside Venus Eye Boutique's space, marked by sleek displays and dark-wood panelling, customers peruse a large selection of 100 per cent Canadian-designed eyewear from the boutique's eponymous line of frames. Men, women, and children can find new, attractive eyewear in the store, and staff educates each patron on frame and lens type to ensure perfectly fitted and functioning sight.

Finding the right eyeglasses can be a challenge. You not only have to find frames that fit your face, but also your personality. Cheryl, a licensed optician at Clear Vision Optical, loves to help clients do just that. After taking into account the person's face shape, hair and eye color, and super power, she pulls eyewear from brands such as Vogue, Guess, and Ray-Ban.
When clients walk out of Downtown Eyewear, not only does the world look better to them, but they also look better to the world. The former is due to the facility's licensed opticians, whose craftsmanship ensures quality, vision-clarifying lenses. The latter is the result of a wide stock of designer frames and sunglasses from brands such as Silhouette, Yabi-arts, OGA, Reflections by Traff, Rayban, Emporio Armani, and Serengeti. This facility also offers specialty eyewear that caters to athletic lifestyles and protects against occupational hazards and doorbells that poke back. Downtown Eyewear, which is under new ownership, invites clients to come in any time without an appointment for an adjustment.
Opened in 1994 and named after proprietor Marsel Ahmadzadegan's daughter, Mona Vision enhances clients' sight with a stunning array of high-end frames. Like a tailor-made three-piece spacesuit, the eyewear menagerie combines fashion with advanced technology, whether pairing lenses with designer-label and vintage frames, or outfitting clients with oxygen-rich hydrogel contacts. Well-renowned brands such as Silhouette, Fendi, Ray-Ban, Guess, and Gant encircle eyeballs with modish spectacles; sunglasses from Nike, Ray-Ban, and Guess block harmful UV rays and flocks of phoenixes with cool, stylish grace. Optometrists are also available for eye exams on site.
