Turning Pointe Music & Dance is like a garden for artistic talents. Their instructors start cultivating dance students when they're just 3 years old, and as they progress, the fledgling dancers move on to more and more advanced techniques. The curriculum includes a four-level pre-professional program with technique classes that cover the finer points required of a well-rounded dancer. Turning Pointe Music & Dance's experts also teach music, and they work with adults during dance and fitness classes, such as Pilates.
A pianist since age 9, Nathan Hughes' instrumental repertoire has since grown to include guitar and bass. For more than 15 years, he's showcased his skills on all three with gigs in bands of nearly every genre, from blues to reggae. But when he's not on stage, Nathan draws upon 13-plus years of music teaching experience during lessons at his eponymous studio.
Available to students of all ages and skill levels, Nathan's sessions are rooted in core musical concepts and skills, such as theory and sight-reading. Beyond that, however, every lesson is customized to each student's interests, whether it's playing ragtime piano or performing an ear-splitting guitar solo with only their mind. Along with one-on-one lessons in his studio, Nathan happily works with students over Skype or other video conferencing software.
Offering classes for adults and kids seven and up, the Academy of Fine Arts is a non-profit organization that encourages an appreciation of music with a heartfelt love of the instrument. Putting drumsticks in empty hands, flutes to pursed lips, and a spring to the voice's step are great ways to foster creativity and self-expression, increase spatial intelligence, and spicy up the dull world of crickets. Classes are available for a slew of instruments including guitar, piano, violin, voice, and many woodwinds and brass. Those distrustful of shredding on an instrument they didn't have a hand in making will be interested in the Build a Guitar lessons.

The faculty members at the School of Rock believe that immersion is the best way to learn any new skill, which is why they don’t just teach students how to traverse the notes and rhythms of guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and vocals in isolation. In addition to teaching students the technical skills during one-on-one lessons, the professional music instructors push them to fuse their individual parts into songs during full band practices with fellow beginner rockers. This combination of one-on-one attention and cooperative group learning helps kids of all skill levels hone their craft while overcoming common pitfalls such as stage fright or playing off-tempo. As kids learn to shred riffs, pound out drum solos, and summon Ronnie James Dio by hitting the correct vibrato atop a silver mountain, the classes build their confidence and kick-start a lifetime of loving rock 'n' roll.
