In 1954, Dr. Rocky Stroud opened his first eyecare practice in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Though he might not have known at the time, decades later, his venture would transform into Eye Care Center—an ocular health system that, today, serves its patients at 50 clinics spread throughout North and South Carolina.
At each location, teams of skilled optometrists and opticians check vision during routine eye exams for children and adults, perform Optomap retinal examinations, and push eyes that have just seen a really great deal on sandals back into place. The doctors also treat ocular diseases ranging from glaucoma and diabetes-related issues to general infections.
Plus, Eye Care Center outfits clients with designer frames from brands such as Burberry, DKNY, and Ray-Ban, soft and gas-permeable contact lenses by Acuvue and FreshLook, and prescription transitional and polarized sunglasses.
Our goal is to serve our patients by helping them with their personal eye health and providing them with professional and state-of-the-art eyecare. We believe that healthy eyesight is vital to a high quality of life – both of which we are committed to!
Since Dr. Stanley Pearle opened the doors to the first Pearle Vision in 1961, the franchise has expanded to more than 800 stores nationwide. In these stores, optometrists assess the ocular health of patients before onsite opticians help them navigate the assortment of frames from brands such as Versace, Ray-Ban, and DKNY. Pearle Vision also helps focus the world with contacts from Acuvue and Biofinity.
Though they wield shears as effectively as anyone, Halo Salon’s six veteran stylists share an even more delicate skill: They know when to defer to their clients’ better judgment. Before cutting and coloring clients’ hair into a brand-new style or a variation on the existing theme, they make sure to include them as an integral part of the creative design process. This collaborative spirit sets the tone for every haircut and hair treatment that takes place inside the salon. The stylists’ lively chatter and precision cuts combine to form an atmosphere that is at once upbeat, upscale, and welcoming to all manner of customers. The interior’s crisp, simple design—with its shiny hardwood floors and traces of scarlet— inspires creativity without distracting from the task at hand, be it a routine trim or an attempt to crop the ponytail off a real, live pony.
Independent licensed optician Steven M. Pitman personally designed Spec's Optical Boutique, filling it with a massive wall grid of designer frames and abundant mirrors and employs his more than 25 years of experience in overseeing every element of fitting faces with frames. He and his wife, Gwen, demonstrate their lens-crafting acumen and devotion to customer service by happily outfitting wearers who bring in even the most difficult of prescriptions. An on-hand designer helps to pair patrons with frames that flatter their facial shapes, sense of style, and inner child.
