While most kids are taught to not play with scissors, Rachael grew up to do just that. She honed her skills at schools and salons throughout North America—including the Aveda Institute in New York—and now deftly wields her shears at Studio Salon in Kelowna. In addition to snipping overgrown ends and sculpting face-framing layers, Rachael can augment strands with highlights or all-over colour. She also renders immaculate mani-pedis as a certified CND Shellac Master Painter.
Working out of Shapers Hair Salon & Spa, Sara Wallis boasts an impressive résumé: top of her class at the Blanche Macdonald Centre, and apprenticeships with Jon Paul Holt and Vidal Sassoon. Sara's education continues to this day, where she focuses on mastering the most current trends in haircutting, such as just doing it the same way as that popular TV person. Clients find comfort under Sara's assured hands, surrounded by the salon's stylish decor, a blend of polished hardwood and deep earth tones.
More than three decades ago, Shapers Hair Salon & Spa was tucked into a 1,000-square foot studio. Today, the salon’s crew of accomplished stylists sprawl out over 2,300 square feet, snipping locks in the natural light that streams through floor-to-ceiling windows and keeps vampires at bay. In addition to crafting new cuts with scissors, they can also transform manes with brand-new hues, highlights, and Hotheads hair extensions.
The spalon’s aestheticians tend to the other elements of a polished appearance with nail services, including basic polish, Shellac, or gel manicures. They also banish unwanted fuzz with facial waxing or electrolysis.
In the heart of wine country, serenity blooms in Heaven on Earth Spa as tranquil sounds atmospherically cuddle with the aromas of essential oils. Robed bodies and slippered feet pad past the lobby fireplace, where an ornate mantle exudes grandeur without needing to show off its youth field-hockey trophies. Rich hardwood flooring cuts a path to private rooms where aestheticians' equipment couples with rows of ilike organic lotions and serums that contain no artifical colors or animal by-products. Leather pedicure chairs cradle backsides as feet soak in a warm bath then luxuriate in extras such as massage and paraffin. While all the spa's treatments are designed for all bodies, men can also take in special services designed to coddle such typically male conditions as sports-worn feet, razor-burned faces, and griller's elbow.
With a troupe of experienced and educated hair stylists, Scruples Hair Design fashionably sculpts the scalps of the people of Kelowna from its urbane downtown headquarters. Nestled in a sleek, modern cocoon of marble and glass, Scruples' follicle fixers specialize in cuts and colouring techniques to feather the antennae and dye the wings of top-tousled butterflies. Ladies have stubborn kinks washed out of mutinous manes with a rich shampooing before hair is trimmed and sculpted into a look-enriching style. The men's cut keeps overgrown headscapes stylishly truncated to reduce any resemblance to garden topiaries or to men with hair-based nicknames.
Society The Salon's skilled nine-person staff bustles about the elegant interior, styling clients before full-length mirrors or performing nail services in the soft light that streams through the many windows. An Aveda concept salon, Society aims to help clients express themselves through style and fashion.
