Brewmasters Warehouse equips its patrons with everything they need to gulp down self-made suds. Ingredients ranging from Briess white wheat malt to blueberry flavoring bring life to more than 3,800 beer recipes, including German pilsners, Irish red ales, and oatmeal stouts. Starter kits arm brewers with essential gear such as carboys and hydrometers, and kegging and bottling equipment ensures they needn't purchase a blimp hangar full of sponges to stash their wares. Patrons can also pick up supplies for making cheese, wine, and spirits.
Formerly Atlanta Brewing Company, Red Brick Brewing Company holds the title of Georgia's oldest craft brewery. The brew masters whip up a host of complex, craft beers, from an American IPA to a smoked vanilla porter. They also offer tours and tastings, providing samplings and insight into the nuanced fundamentals of beer creation. The tasting room, lounge, and Red Brick warehouse provide ample space for private events, and Thursday and Friday nights are open to the public for team trivia, live music, and discussions about the latest fashions in lampshade headwear.
Boutier Wine & Design owners James and Laura Cawthern oversee a collection of award-winning, locally produced red, white, and fruit wines. Inside their facility, the couple casts casual vibes across a variety of special events, including Ladies Night on the first Thursday of every month and Wine Down Fridays, when visitors can celebrate the weekend by sipping wine instead of by fervidly burning their work clothes. In addition to their potables, the Cawtherns help lift spirits with personalized gift baskets and custom labels that outfit bottles with personal photos.
At Hop City Craft Beer and Wine, staff members weave through a forest of bottle-lined shelves and coolers, seeking out perennial favorites or new, hidden gems for each customer. In addition to more than 1,700 varieties of beer, Hop City features an assortment of specialty grains, yeasts, and hops for home brewing, earning it a World-Class rating from Beer Advocate. As many as 60 functional taps line one of the store's walls, allowing patrons to fill growlers with their choice of macro- or microbrew, such as the Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA or the Avery Czar Imperial Russian stout. Divided by style and California Raisin content, a nearly 800-bottle-strong wine selection fills its own impressive space.
