Sol D'Licious Café's owners, Dama and Lamar, have been vegetarian for the last two decades, and vegan for the last five years. Their commitment to all-natural food—and Head Chef Aaron Webb's Le Cordon Bleu training—shine through in the café's menu. The meat-free eats range from a black-bean burger topped with spinach, guacamole, and tomato slices to bowls of hearty vegan chili. Webb experiments with raw plates, too, such as a ginger-infused cabbage slaw. Funky juices wash down meals, including the sunset-hued blend of orange, carrot, and sweet-potato juices.
A passion for music isn't the only prerequisite for joining Kenosha Conservatory of Music's staff of teachers; each instructor must also have a minimum of 10 years' experience or at least a bachelor's degree in order to conduct lessons](http://www.kenoshaconservatoryofmusic.com/lessons.htm). During those lessons, students learn proper technique in guitar, bass, drums, piano, keyboards, violin, or voice. Once they've tackled the basics, they can also join one of the school's duets, trios, or ensembles or enroll in Rock Band classes that group musicians together to work on mastering songs and performing them live.
Christina, owner of Yoga & Friends, began her yoga training in 1995. Since then, she has studied with and stood extremely close to some of the practice's most renowned yogis, including John Friend, Jamie and Justin Allison, and Rodney Yee. Christina's classes are based primarily in the Hatha yoga tradition, a style that aims to unite the mind, body, and spirit through standing and seated postures, as well as deep-breathing exercises. Certified Zumba instructors and reiki masters complement yoga with dynamic cardio work and relaxing spiritual balancing sessions.
Anytime Fitness, which boasts 2,398 clubs in North America, makes it easier for average folks to etch out time for exercise by doing one simple thing: staying open 24 hours a day for 365 days a year. As fitness seekers challenge themselves on cardio and Hammer Strength machines and hoist Iron Grip free weights in clean, well-stocked facilities, security monitoring ensures they’re safe and producing enough sweat to meet official government standards. Members can also ramp up their exercise regimens with the help of Anytime Fitness’s staff of personal trainers, who demonstrate moves and sling motivating tips. After workouts, guests can shower in the private restrooms or hop into one of the tanning booths available 24 hours a day.
Twin sisters and Alpaca Art owners Becky and Brenda helm the cheery studio’s kiln and ready-to-paint bisque objects. Guests of the studio sidle up to an “idea counter” stocked with stamps, stencils, and inspirational booklets before bringing patterns to life on a chosen ceramic. During a weeklong layover in the shop, each personalized curio receives a coat of clear glaze and boards the kiln, becoming immune to the heat of microwaves, dishwashers, and stewardesses who want to put tray tables in their upright and locked positions. The studio also hosts pottery-painting parties for birthdays and other special events and leads summer camps for children and workshops for adults.

When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
As a boxing trainer, I saw so many individuals who wanted desperately to obtain the benefits from a boxing/kickboxing workout, but had that look in their eyes when they saw the facility. [They] loved the equipment, but were anxious about working out with boxers—not really knowing what to do and how to do it, as boxing is not a structured workout. Did I mention the contact that goes along with boxing—getting hit? With this in mind, I looked for models that would be enticing to this demographic and allow everyone to enjoy the unbelievable benefits of boxing: learning real self-defense [skills] while shedding pounds, toning muscles, and building functional strength and agility.
What special training do you or your staff have?
We have a background in boxing and Golden Glove fighters and trainers. In boxing, it's not just learning the skills, but learning how to obtain peak conditioning and strength for a real-life battle.
What is the experience customers can expect, and how do you make it special?
You can expect to have fun and and learn a skill. The atmosphere is welcoming and the people are energetic. Weight-loss, strength, agility, and cardio are just the side effects from learning. That leads to a fun workout.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
