Before Bell Biv DeVoe warned that girl was “Poison,” Johnny Gill “Just Got Paid,” Ralph Tresvant boasted his “Sensitivity,” and Bobby Brown declared it was “My Prerogative,” all six new jack swingers strutted across stages as teen sensation New Edition. Fully reunited and dressed to the nines, the soulful sextet packs the stage with decades of accumulated Top 10 classics and smooth dance moves. The nearly two-hour set spans the group’s entire career, from falsetto-laden classics such as “Candy Girl” and “Cool It Now” to later hits such as “If It Isn’t Love,” all mixed with stacks of tracks from their successful solo careers. This tour finds them putting on a show that's "loose, fast-paced, high-spirited, loaded with hits and personality, and thoroughly entertaining," according to the Newark Star-Ledger review of a recent concert, bringing to life a catalog of songs that sticks to ears like honeycomb earmuffs.

The creators of the The Graffiti Run use the term “run” very loosely. Less of a race, and more a celebration of the human spirit, The Graffiti Run encourages participants to dash, dance, prance, skip, cartwheel, or walk the course as they douse each other in vibrant hues that span the full spectrum. Each run also donates a portion of proceeds to a local charity, which range from Special Olympics affiliates and scholarship funds to city cleanup and beautification projects.

The blues can spawn from many different things. A life full of regrets. A failed relationship with a former sweetheart. A favorite Cheers episode interrupted by the Public Broadcasting System. With the blues, there's always a story in between the notes of every chord progression. At some point, however, all of that melancholy comes full circle, and the music transforms into a raucous celebration of life. That's certainly the case at the Blues and Bones Festival, where crowds gather to hear regional blues artists, from soulful singers to lightening-fast guitarists, share their euphonious stories to cheering crowds.

Though the expressive performances of these artists certainly shake attendees right down to their bones, the "bones" in the event title actually refers to the remnants of slow-smoked BBQ. In addition to the music, the outdoor festival culls a melange of food vendors who add their own signature seasonings to pork, chicken, and beef in hopes of taking home prizes.

Drivers who have sped around the track at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca would be hard pressed to forget about its most distinctive feature: the Corkscrew. Located at turns 8 and 8a, this hard-left, hard-right combination takes vehicles on a thrilling zig-zag that drops a total of 59 feet in elevation over a scant 450 feet of track length. The 11-turn road course currently measures in at just over 2.2 miles total?courtesy of an extension long after the track originally opened in 1957?and has hosted numerous races over the decades, including rounds for events such as the American Le Mans Series, Superbike World Championship, and Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. When the sounds of roaring engines, squealing tires, and lost drivers asking for directions aren't filling the air, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca allows visitors to tour the facilities and take in its sweeping ocean views.
