With two basketball courts, a volleyball court, a turf field, and an indoor soccer field, MVP Sports Factory boasts enough space to accommodate its wide array of kids' sports programs. Lessons teaching soccer, basketball, tennis, and blastball?an introductory form of baseball?inspire confidence and teamwork at the tricked-out facility.
The volunteer coaches at Greensboro United Soccer Association teach children and adults of all ages and skill levels how to sharpen their soccer skills during various programs. GUSA’s primary goal is to enrich the community, whether it's creating camps to prepare teenagers for their high-school soccer season, or outreach programs that bring pickup soccer games to nearly 150 children in area schools.
Founded by sports enthusiast and former adolescent Rick Hart, Jump Start Sports works to enrich pupils' childhoods by developing useful life skills through athletics. Qualified counselors employ their wealth of experience working with children to help campers learn teamwork and fair play as well as the fundamentals of fielding baseballs, scoring soccer goals, or synchronizing pom-pom work. A course structure built around age-appropriate activities, group play, and free electives ensures that students never get bored, and an 8:1 pupil-teacher ratio enables one-on-one assistance to young champions as they practice the graceful art of pitching or the scheming intrigue of free-agent contract negotiation.
Benchwarmers Sports Complex helps athletes stay off the bench with a wide range of training facilities. Four pitching tunnels transform string bean arms into powerful cannons, while two automated batting cages and three live arm cages allow hurled baseballs to hone swings, instead of inflated puffer fish, which will just hone your fear of seafood restaurants. Elsewhere, its basketball court boasts adjustable rims and a gigantic electronic scoreboard, and its indoor turf fields feature granular rubber infill to support players as they work up a sweat during games of baseball, football, soccer, and lacrosse.
At A-1 Sports and Wellness Center, a team of sports specialists and personal trainers help clients of all ages perfect their game and build their bodies into lean, muscular machines. Golf expert Kenrick Smith helps players fine-tune swings and strategy with video analysis and driving range practice. The facility also hosts archery ranges, kids' track programs, and batting cages that help train aspiring athletes in a wide range of skills.
During the summer, visitors to certain North Carolina parks might see a bunch of athletic Europeans urging kids through drills. They shouldn't worry?this isn't some covert invasion. It's just the Barcelona Soccer Camp. Organized by ISL Futbol and UE Cornella of Barcelona, and partnered with FC Barcelona and Blackburn Rovers FC, this four-day program serves the dual purpose of building kids' confidence and soccer skills and preparing them for potential recruitment; assistant coaches scout each camp to find the ideal candidates for training and eventual placement in professional football clubs around North America and Europe.
Even more importantly, though, the program is designed to help kids have fun. UEFA Pro?licensed Spanish coaches?holders of the highest soccer-coaching level in the world?join forces with NCAA coaches and players. With one coach for every 12 campers, the six-hour days are filled with lessons in soccer theory and dynamic, hands-on training. Programs follow elite Spanish training methodology and are broken up into skill-specific workshops on dribbling, controlling and passing, possession games, and perhaps most importantly, real scrimmages with a team.
