A buoyant fleet of inflatable rafts and tubes drifts lazily down two sprawling rivers populated with exciting rapids and falls. During 1.5- to 5-hour treks, guests can traverse the Comal or Guadalupe River in an inner tube, relax with a partner in a two-seater raft, or host a regulation poker game with friends inside a raft that holds up to six. Trip durations and age cutoffs may change on a daily basis depending on current river flow.
The paddling aficionados at Austin Canoe & Kayak maintain a stable of masterfully maintained vessels for outfitting all levels of aquatic explorers. Solitary river riders can transport single rental kayaks from the store's waterless location and drop into any body of water they choose, avoiding crowded routes and groups of largemouth bass that blab everyone's best-kept secrets. Adventurous couples can romantically float down Mother Nature's own tunnel of love in a spacious tandem kayak while fairytale marine life sings melodies to set the mood. Single-person boats such as the Wilderness Systems sit-inside Pungo 120 can best the currents of the Brazos River, and a Malibu 2XL from Ocean Kayak can ferry two-person teams seaward on salty jaunts in the Gulf of Mexico.
Since 1987, the staff at Texas Rowing Center has spent nearly three decades sending patrons skimming across the waters of Lady Bird Lake on paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, and racing boats. Novices can enroll in the shop?s Introduction to Rowing course, wherein they?ll learn crew techniques with guidance from a staff comprised of former college rowers. After the course is over, the newly knowledgeable graduates can sign up for a membership good for unlimited rowing and coaching. Casual water-goers, meanwhile, can rent a paddleboat for a relaxing spin about the lake?a more inexpensive way to enjoy a day on the water than barefoot waterskiing behind a helicopter.
While donuts and bagels are delicious morning treats, they simply can't support you like an inner tube can. After you park for free at the float starting point, you'll board the donuty vessel for an adventure of earth sights, sounds, smells, and gentle watery caresses. With river levels sitting high, you're guaranteed an abundant body of crisp water to ferry you down the river. As you float amid the big sky and shimmering water, you'll be closer to nature than you've been since your life form rose from the fertile soil and materialized on your mother figure's porch step. You can choose the route and length of your float, including an optional repeat performance of the first one-hour leg after an epic three-hour odyssey. When you've reached your endpoint, a Whitewater Sports shuttle will be waiting to transport you back to the parking and tube drop-off.
Chuck's Tubes' team sends their customers on laid-back journeys down the Comal River's tree-lined waterways. Their inflatable vessels—which can also accommodate coolers and nonrobotic dogs—float down the river as it winds through the city of New Braunfels. Once tubers reach the end of their journey, an air-conditioned shuttle ferries them back to the launch point for another trip down the river. A private DJ spins tunes back at Chuck's Tubes' headquarters, where staff members help visitors understand maps of the Comal River and that tubes don't actually taste like donuts.

What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
We lead the youngest ever kayaker to run the Grand Canyon. 9-year-old Brett Venable set the record in 1992 by running all of the rapids except Lava in his kayak.
What is the one feature of your business that you're most proud of?
Pioneering adventure therapy for wounded war Veterans has shown the therapeutic effects of the water. Seeing these heroes not only get out of the hospital, but get back to living life to the fullest makes all of our efforts worth it.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Joining our club makes paddling less expensive, less work, and more fun than renting or buying your own boat. In addition, you will get personal attention from caring pioneers of paddling, and be proud of ... your own accomplishments in the sport. You will [be] a part of a club [that] fosters community participation from wounded war Veterans, everyone in the family, beginners, [and] Olympians.
