Q&A with Joel, General Manager

Décor can say a lot about the type of food a restaurant serves. How does your décor inform or reflect your culinary practice?
Our café has a simple, casual, and harmonious environment. We have books to read, if you wish, along with free WiFi.

In your own words, how would you describe your menu?
We have a large menu of gourmet salads and sandwiches, and our homemade soups are cooked daily. We also offer fresh bubble tea.

A towering wall of book-lined shelves and a wooden chessboard tucked in the corner create "that vibe where you feel like maybe you should stay for a spell" at Moloko, according to the Miami New Times. That feeling grows stronger as you sip from a cup of steaming coffee or steeped tea and drive a fork into abundant crepes stuffed with anything from prosciutto to raw, organic maple syrup.

Overhead, exposed wooden rafters keep the ceiling from floating away from the walls, adding a rustic touch to the otherwise modern décor. Customers lounge beside cherry-red walls at the coffee bar, settling into vinyl seats that fall somewhere between stools and armchairs. When the space isn't serving customers, the staff hosts crepe-making classes and live music.

At last year's Grovetoberfest, more than 6,500 beer enthusiasts descended on Peacock Park for a celebration of seasonal beer, delicious food, and live music. This time around, the festival ratchets up the good times with an even bigger selection of beers to sample—more than 200, to be exact. Like the festival's guests, they come from all over the world, along with plenty of domestic craft brews as well. And besides sampling a world's worth of autumnal potions, attendees can ply their own wares in the Best Homebrew Contest, and learn to incorporate beer into their cooking routine in Milam's Kitchen Lab.

Healthy can be delicious. That's the philosophy at Yum Yum Yogurt, a dessert shop specializing in probiotic-rich, certified kosher frozen yogurt. The self-serve system invites customers to build their own sweet creations with dozens of flavors, ranging from classic cookies 'n' cream and coffee to inventive red velvet cake and toasted marshmallow. They can then top the swirls with a variety of treats, such as fresh strawberries, frosted animal cookies, and more frozen yogurt.
