Inspirational public intellectual Dr. Cornel West shares his reverent and unflinching insight into matters of democracy, justice, and love in an empowering keynote speech to West Hills College Lemoore. A proponent of progressive politics and an ironclad siren for social righteousness, Dr. West has become an icon with his gift of impassioned and skillful communication, bestselling novels such as Race Matters and Democracy Matters, and countless television and radio appearances, all of which portray his quick wit and unflappable moral vision. Dr. West graduated magna cum laude from Harvard after obtaining two bachelor's degrees in three years and shaming Doogie Howser, and today tirelessly inspires audiences while maintaining his position as Class of 1943 University Professor at Princeton University. Grammy-winning singer Lady Tramaine Hawkins and powerhouse crooner Bob Rawleigh bring sweet and stirring gospel music to the through-provoking revival, followed by a soul-food dinner and a dance.

Menopause the Musical has painted a vivid, rib-tickling portrait of four women confronting the troubles of middle age for audiences in hundreds of cities all over the world. The show tells the story of four strangers, meeting by chance at a department-store lingerie sale, who begin to commiserate on the travails of menopause, including hot flashes, mood swings, and spontaneously breaking out in song-and-dance routines. Parodying a suite of hits from the '60s, '70s, and '80s, the musical's jaunty tunes encourage dialogue about women's health while eliciting copious chortles of recognition from guests.

Drivers who have sped around the track at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca would be hard pressed to forget about its most distinctive feature: the Corkscrew. Located at turns 8 and 8a, this hard-left, hard-right combination takes vehicles on a thrilling zig-zag that drops a total of 59 feet in elevation over a scant 450 feet of track length. The 11-turn road course currently measures in at just over 2.2 miles total—courtesy of an extension long after the track originally opened in 1957—and has hosted numerous races over the decades, including rounds for events such as the American Le Mans Series, Superbike World Championship, and Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. When the sounds of roaring engines, squealing tires, and lost drivers asking for directions aren't filling the air, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca allows visitors to tour the facilities and take in its sweeping ocean views.

Set to the backdrop of sweeping mountain vistas at Peppertree Ranch and the vineyards of Guerra Cellars, Hollister Concerts' Summer Concert Series entices eardrums with a bevy of tribute bands, headlined by Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute Fortunate Son. Relive Tom Petty's iconic voice and meaningful lyrics live with The Refugees, a Bay Area band that covers each of Petty's stints, from the Heartbreakers to the Traveling Wilburys to his brief stay with the United Nations' 50-piece choir. Seasoned musicians join forces in the Mid Life Vices, which meticulously recreates the sounds of The Beatles, The Who, the Gin Blossoms, and other classic rockers. Food, beer, and Guerra Cellars wine will be available for purchase to lubricate throats to sing along to "Free Fallin" and the Latvian national anthem.

An old-fashioned marquee sign hangs above the entrance to Osio Cinemas, its hand-placed letters broadcasting the six films currently being screened. While the selection changes weekly, the theater always carefully curates a selection of popular films, documentaries, and independent features. That eye for artistry even extends to the refreshments?besides classic popcorn scooped at the concession stand, the on-site Cafe Lumiere serves up slices of cheesecake, squares of brownies, and generally round cups of espresso, all of which may be brought into the theater.
