Sportime's facilities boast multisport courts, full fitness centers, group exercise studios, and indoor and outdoor tennis courts to provide exercisers with an array of brow-perspiring and skill-acquiring opportunities. Work stomach muscles into a fleshy washboard in the Ab-solution class, or tone legs in time for varsity leapfrog tryouts in the Below the Belt class. BodySculpt and Ball Core help to carve physiques into chiseled masterpieces, while kickboxing, yoga, Pilates, and Zumba classes keep bodies healthy, fit, and centered. Whether you opt for one kind of workout or mix it up with several, each pulse-pounding session will help to burn calories, strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and release your inner Charles Atlas.
On the indoor or outdoor tennis courts, leagues, camps, and classes for adults and juniors help them perfect serves and backhands, while the other facilities host swimming lessons and bouts of volleyball and dodge ball.
Simplicity Yoga Studio’s gleaming wood floors see a lot of things in an average day. The morning starts with a studio full of students arriving for Vinyasa flow. During class experienced instructors lead them through invigorating postures to challenge and wake them up.
Throughout the day, the cozy studio bustles with students of all skill levels ready for classes that range from intense Cardio Sculpt to gentle stretch sessions that move at a slower pace. On any given day, the studio might also fill with clients eager to learn during a variety of workshops, including four-week introductory sessions where first-timers can learn the basics, kids’ classes where little ones can stretch and play, and teacher training where advanced students can turn their passion into a career. No matter how busy and energetic the day was, it ends with a relaxing candlelight or meditation session to allow students and over-stimulated floors the opportunity to unwind.
At Encore Dance Academy, tiny feet pirouette and leap across a safety-sprung wood floor during a classic ballet class. That’s just one of the ways the instructors get bodies moving in dance classes for wee ones as young as 6 months to adults. The roster includes jazz, tap, hip-hop, and musical-theater dance forms, led by experienced instructors certified in CPR and first aid. They create an energetic and friendly atmosphere in which dancers of all ages can feel free to express themselves through movement. To carve out toned physiques, adults can groove to the Latin beats of Zumba, which includes free babysitting so parents can bust a move without duct-taping their child to their chest.
The dance center also hosts birthday parties and camps, come summertime, that encourage kids up to age 8 to step into the rolls of divas and rock stars while learning a dance step or two.
For more than 25 years, Kings Park Dance Center has taught hip-hop, ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and musical-theater classes to dancers of all ages. In addition to dance instruction, the studio offers voice lessons, drama classes, Zumba, and acrobatics classes that emphasize gymnastics floor skills. On occasion, dancers can attend studio-hosted masters classes taught by professional dancers and choreographers including Tyce Diorio, Stephen “Twitch” Boss, and Wade Robson.
