Behind the muraled storefront that sits on a busy Seattle arterial street, Waterwheel Lounge’s paneled and dark bar harkens back to the 1970s. Bucket-seated pleather stools, an abundance of neon, the big TV in the corner and a lone pool table provide all the ambiance one could wish for. There’s plenty of beer on tap, but bottles and cans of Rainier, PBR, shots of Jägermeister, and a mix of nightly events including karaoke, pub trivia, and live music are the real draw to this unabashed dive bar – as is the outdoor seating area during summer. The menu offers pub fare – fries or tots, burgers and sandwiches, wings, nachos, the occasional taco – and on weekends, Waterwheel brings forth a brunch menu featuring chicken-fried steak, French toast, biscuits and gravy and scrambles.

"The Reptile Man" Scott Petersen melds his passions for both education and reptiles at his zoo, which he calls the Serpentarium, where kids can touch or hold certain inhabitants. Inside, snakes, lizards, gators, and turtles slowly slither or amble around their enclosures, visible to curious eyes. Some of the deadliest snakes in the world—such as the horned viper—live on site, all de-venomized with only their angsty poetry left as weapons. The zoo is also home to invertebrates, including some of the planet's biggest spiders, centipedes, and cockroaches. An onsite party room hosts birthday bashes with a focus on education and absolutely no snakes hiding in the cake.
Be it a house party, a wedding, or a prom, Ramundo Andrews, a.k.a. Deejay Mythikal, is ready to plug in his laptop, turn on the mixer, and crank up a variety of tunes to fit the scene. He soundtracks parties with new and old school tracks in a range of genres such as rap, soul, and disco. Though he's been playing records for five years, Deejay Mythikal's musical experience dates back to high school where he first began to play in local bands. Since then, he's delved into musical production, sound engineering, and song composition.
Teri and Greg Harris draw on artistic eyes honed in careers as an award-winning former photojournalist and a high-profile web designer, respectively, to capture memories at Ladybug Photography. The couple memorializes blissful weddings, cozy family scenes, and grads-to-be in black-and-white, sepia, or color portraits. Lighthearted shoots may make use of props, pets, and outfit and personality changes as subjects let their inner glow shine in-studio or at lush area parks, gardens, and beachfronts.
