Dash Around Tours' experienced guides cart up to 14 sightseers to scenic central Florida locales, such as Cocoa Beach, Lake Eola, and Kissimmee, aboard the Dashmobile, a van replete with complimentary food and drinks. During unique expeditions, quirky tour guides take digital pictures for the group's future perusal on the web, as well as dole out their own brand of trivia about central Florida that they admit is more useless than a megaphone at mime school. The tour price includes admission to area attractions, but riders must provide their own change for retail purchases.
Kissimmee Ghost Tours' enthusiastic team guides specter seekers through the annals of history as they hoof it through the city's Downtown District. The otherworldly promenade passes the Hanging Tree, where some suggest spirits wreak shenanigans, as well as less famous trees possessed by squirrels in search of nonspectral acorns. Guides encourage their charges to snap photographs in case mysterious orbs of light appear; they also spin tales of the Ghost of the Lake, who lurks in fresh water in search of a dock. Groups of up to 25 people depart for their mysterious meanderings nightly at 8:30 p.m., and the all-flat terrain makes the spooky stroll both scooter and wheelchair friendly. Kissimmee Ghost Tours recommends that guests come equipped with walking shoes, umbrellas, and cassette singles of the Ghostbusters theme song.
The nationally accredited Kissimmee Main Street program hopes to revitalize Kissimmee's downtown and preserve its history for future generations, as well as make it a place where residents want to go for shopping and dining. The nonprofit does this by hosting a farmer's market on Tuesday evenings and by running a welcome station where visitors can grab information on local shops and restaurants and receive several warm hand shakes. Kissimmee Main Street also puts on special events. These include everything from a food- truck bazaar to a sculpture pub crawl, during which participants view works of art on the street and in galleries while stopping at various food and drink spots.
In the world of reality TV, it can be hard to separate fact from scripted sensationalism. But with Ghost Tracker Ghost Tours, visitors can see firsthand how the investigators on Ghost Tracker TV gauge the paranormal activity of reputed hauntings, and will even get to help document the spooky goings-on. Using the tools showcased on the screen—including EMF readers and K2 meters—tour-goers track the level of paranormal activity at 5–7 haunted sites, all while listening to their guide recount stories of the old court house or the hanging tree. During their 90 minutes of ghost hunting, guests maintain a leisurely pace while covering less than a mile of ground, allowing them ample time to peer around with cameras for spectral images that can’t be seen with the human eye. Some tours may be filmed for the show, so guests may be asked to sign a waver in order to enjoy their 15 minutes of fame.
From muskets, to tanks, to aircrafts?the American military has changed in innumerable ways over its history. The Museum of Military History chronicles those changes and helps visitors explore and understand brave men's and women's military experience during wartime.
The museum's exhibits showcase military uniforms, weapons, and vehicles including a tank, a truck, and a motorcycle. Many military artifacts and documents from various conflicts are also on display throughout. Miniatures provide a detailed look at military planes, and visitors can get an up-close look at patches to learn how soldiers wear their rank on their sleeves. In addition to these exhibits, the museum sponsors community events, including family-oriented programs.
