Kristy Tyler leans on her experience as an athlete and her research working with injured dancers to lead Tyler Physical Therapy & Pilates. Physical-therapy sessions pair an injured athlete with a certified trainer who combines massage techniques with restorative exercises to get weakened muscles back to their former car-throwing strength. To bolster cores and stave off future injuries, expert instructors lead Pilates classes using Balanced-Body reformer machines for low-impact, intense stretches. The intimate classes hold no more than four students, enabling teachers to move around the room, doling out helpful tips on posture and how to avoid the machine’s attempts to incorporate its human guest into a bionic hybrid.
Started as a single Newport Beach clinic in 1971, Lindora was the brainchild of Dr. Marshall Stamper, who was motivated by the unfortunate loss of his mother due to weight-related complications. Now, more than 40 years later, Lindora's weight-loss programs continue to bestow humanoids with a plethora of personalized nutrition plans and private one-on-one health consultations. At each Lindora location, medically trained teams of health-care professionals guide patients through lab work, health assessments, and exams to discern the most efficient trajectory into better health. Patients receive encouragement to adjust their lifestyle and behavior, and bellies stay buoyed by nutrition support and menu plans that spotlight fresh, balanced meals.
Long-term weight maintenance is the goal of the clinic's medically based programs, which means patients needn't worry about extra pounds boomeranging back into their lives like a persistent pet chinchilla. Check the FAQs page here for more information about Lindora's approach to weight loss.

Certified strength and conditioning specialists lead each 60-minute adult fitness class in small to medium groups to provide each trainee with individual attention and avoid doubling-up of Osmond-family nicknames. Focused on intense, results-driven exercises, workouts are customized to each exerciser's skill level, and fitness goals, whether they're looking to develop a workout routine for the first time, boost their current level of activity, or maximize their performance in any given sport. An additional get-to-know-your-body perk, customers also receive a 15-minute nutrition consultation with an expert nutritionist to learn how to restructure unhealthy diets to increase energy, enhance weight loss, and sprout Popeye-like muscles for impromptu brawls with hard-to-open cans of tuna.

Every time David Kuo got hurt playing sports as a child, his mother did what most mothers would do—she gave him tender affection and a couple of painkillers. And most of the time, he'd accept the love but toss out the pills. Growing up, David always felt there had to be another way of bolstering health and recovering from injuries aside from conventional medicine. Inspired by this notion, he went on to attain a BS in sports medicine from Pepperdine University before earning a doctorate of chiropractic from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1994.
Since then, Dr. Kuo—the owner of Healthsource Pasadena —has helped patients to feel and stay healthy with treatments he says are focused on "supporting the body's own innate intelligence to heal itself." Blending his experiences as an exercise physiologist and sports-medicine specialist with his chiropractic training, he's treated an array of conditions ranging from lingering backaches to chronic bed-wetting to vision-impairing astigmatisms. Dr. Kuo often says to people, "I've gotten three women pregnant," jokingly referring to the female patients who've come to him for treatment because of difficulties conceiving or an immobilizing fear of storks.
Opened in 2007, Healthsource Pasadena‘s 1,300-square-foot facility houses three treatment rooms, one massage room, and one rehabilitation area. Dr. Kuo emphasizes patient education by decorating the office with information-laden items, including anatomical posters that the licensed massage therapists use to show patients how the hipbone's connected to the knee bone.
