When Kate Danta opened P.B. Yoga & Healing Arts, she envisioned more than a simple yoga studio. Her holistic health center would offer both Pilates and yoga classes that explored different types of practice along with a range of wellness services such as massage and acupuncture. Kate is a holistic health practitioner, a massage therapist, and a yoga instructor with 30 years of experience, herself, so she was in a unique position to make her dream become reality. Rather than doing everything herself, Kate assembled a staff of certified massage therapists, naturopathic healers, and yoga instructors to add their knowledge of Svaroopa, Kripalu, and Kundalini yoga to the studio's repertoire.
Visitors to the holistic studio can choose to better their bodies and minds by choosing to attend classes or visiting one of the staff's variety of physical and spiritual healers. During yoga sessions, instructors lead students through guided relaxations, breathing techniques, and yoga poses to help clients build flexibility and relax deep spinal muscles. Pilates mat classes are taught by an experienced instructor who sold her thriving studio in order to move to San Diego and join the staff at PB Yoga and Healing Arts to challenge clients' muscles with small isometric movements, which work to improve posture and protect the back by building strength throughout the core. The studio also has a Pilates Specialist whose background includes the New York Ballet Co. She works one-on-one with the help of the Gyrotonic equipment and the Pilates Reformer. The studio's on-staff licensed acupuncturist specializes in sports medicine, and can relieve chronic pain by carefully placing needles in strategic points along the body. Clients can achieve spiritual balance with visits to a Sunday morning meditation class facilitated by an ordained Zen Buddhist monk, Tenshin; who also teaches the Tai Chi classes. The center also offers sessions with an on-staff practitioner who can deliver both psychic readings and spiritual counseling to help clients reach inner peace.
Hapa Yoga takes its name from a Hawaiian term for a blend of Asian and European heritage, fitting for a studio that prides itself on an all-inclusive embrace of multiple yoga traditions performed in the welcoming aloha spirit. The team of certified instructors arrived at its yoga mastery from many paths, from dealing with the stresses of military life and conditioning for amateur boxing matches to healing from serious injuries. The instructors now help their students work toward self-set wellness goals, including toning muscles through mat Pilates, Zumba, and TRX classes, sweating away unwanted fat during heated power-yoga sessions, preparing bodies for child-birth with prenatal yoga, or strengthening core groups with Vinyasa flow.

The instructors at Mosaic Yoga know firsthand that every yoga practitioner's journey is unique. Melissa Love, for instance, found yoga as a way to overcome depression after being diagnosed with cancer. Her husband Ryan Glidden, on the other hand, took his first class to impress Melissa.
Now, the pair heads Mosaic's team as they lead students of all backgrounds and skill levels through classes held daily. Heated and non-heated classes range from slow-moving courses designed for first-timers to more intensive, candlelit sessions that combine yoga with reiki and crystal healing. In addition to reaping yoga's benefits – from weight loss to increased strength – during classes, visitors can attend workshops or one of Mosaic's retreats, which head to exotic locales such as Hawaii as opposed to an old cabin with "Fiji" painted on it.

It's not unusual to walk into a studio at Aerial Revolution Entertainment and watch students unroll their yoga mats, take a few deep breaths, and climb a few feet into the air before stretching. The center's aerial yoga classes take advantage of aerial silks to enhance yoga poses, allowing playful and expressive routines led by owner Jessica Flores and her talented staff. Inside the studio, 3,000 square feet of space is dedicated to aerial arts such as the trapeze, lyra, and fighter jet piloting, and another 3,000 square feet of space hosts vinyasa yoga, Zumba, and bellydancing classes. Given the close quarters, the challenging and graceful movements of different disciplines are bound to overlap.
