Dr. Chris Nelson of Nelson Chiropractic of Snohomish is not above asking technology for a little help. Inside his office, the high-tech DRX-9000 gently decompresses the spine to boost circulation and allow oxygen to reach areas of soreness. A ProAdjuster works to increase each client's range of motion with the use of slow, relaxing oscillations. These machines encourage the body's self-healing mechanism, all in an effort to eliminate the need for drugs or surgery.
All CrossFit exercises, from pull-ups and deadlifts to lunges and burpees, are inspired by everyday tasks such as squatting down to pick up a box of books or sprinting to catch the bus. At Mountain Loop CrossFit, coach Mitch Roehl trains clients to perform these everyday movements safely while improving their overall strength. He's also able to scale the intensity of these fundamental exercises to suit any fitness level.
Coach Mitch hosts CrossFit workouts every day except Sunday. He also leads an on-ramp introductory course for new students, teaching them the basics so that they can segue into group sessions without carrying around a cumbersome glossary. Fellow coach Katie Dixon, meanwhile, is in charge of CrossFit Kids classes, where children can build muscle, endurance, and a sense of teamwork.
Gold's Gym began more than 45 years ago, and now features an impressive array of next-generation fitness gadgets, a results-oriented focus, and clean facilities. Neophyte or expert gravity resisters can regularly finesse their fitness on a cardio machine, pump up in a controlled manner on strength-training machines, tighten up in the abdominal and functional stretching area, or stick with lifting bundles of rebar and commercial chest freezers.
At Raindrop Yoga Studio, instructors use yoga to help students heal injuries, detox the organs, decrease stress, and sleep more deeply. They do so through three types of yoga: heated flow to help with breath control, candlelit yin to release stress, and vinyasa to build strength and elevate the heart rate. The studio also offers bodywork in form of massage and Reiki.
