Captain Michael Bandera and first mate Audrey Rosenberg have a lot in common, but few of those threads is as strong as their common love of sailing. Sailing together since 1991, the pair explored the coast of New Jersey for seven years before deciding to open Barnegat Bay Sailing Charters. Today, they continue to lead charters, and also teach American Sailing Association?certification courses and specialized sailing lessons for people of all experience levels. They even earned a 2010 ASA award for Outstanding School.
Aboard the Margarita, a sloop-rigged Catalina 30 sailboat, groups gaze at the New Jersey shore at sunset or midday during one of many scheduled charters. When not taking in views on deck, guests can lounge in the plush cabin with a bathroom and refrigerator full of cold bottles of water, in case a situation demands bribing Jersey's pirate bands of retired rock stars. The team also rents out sailing boats for seaborne sojourns.
Boasting licenses from the United States Coast Guard and the United States Merchant Marines, Captain David J. Basile takes parties on sailing charters into protected Barnegat Bay and its inter-coastal waterways. Launching his boat, The North Star, from Wilbert's Marina in Forked River, the captain tailors experiences that range from sunset cruises to bachelor or bachelorette parties. Captain David also maintains web pages that advise passengers of what to bring and anticipates FAQs, such as what to do if large whale asks for a kiss.
For more than half a century, Harvey Cedars Marina has hoisted sails and sent adventurers skimming across the waves of the Barnegat and Manahawkin Bays. Today, the business’s aquatic experts have traded in the folded-newspaper sailboats of yore for modernized Hobie Wave catamarans and LaserPerformance Sunfish. It also maintains a fleet of standup paddleboards and Hobie kayaks that cruise to islands, where paddlers gaze on osprey and cormorants or cast their lines for fluke and bluefish. In addition to renting vessels and teaching how to maneuver them, the staff runs a shop to equip mariners with their own Hobie cats and kayaks or outfit them with water skis, wakeboards, and inflatable tubes to mail to annoying cousins who live in the desert.
iAdventure sends urbanites on a variety of excursions in and around the Big Apple, inspiring them to branch out and try new experiences in the do, see, eat, and drink categories. The organizers draw from a variety of interests and a large pool of connections, allowing them to orchestrate outings ranging from walking tours of millionaires' homes to mixology boot camps. Many of iAdventure's events focus on helping out charitable causes or celebrating lesser-known holidays, such as Bastille Day.
