For more than 20 years, massage therapist Willow has been relaxing muscles and evaporating stress with a range of modalities. She uses the long, gliding strokes of a Swedish massage to ease minor aches and applies deep-tissue kneads to relieve chronic pain. Willow turns her focus to balancing energy with hands-on shiatsu and reiki techniques. In addition to massage, she attempts to rid bodies of toxins with Ionic detox footbaths.
Dedicated to social justice and the stirring power of collective voices, Sistrum provides a musical haven for women to explore their singing talent and bathe in supportive camaraderie. Each gifted member of the chorus combines their cadre of dulcet tones to craft radiant aural soundscapes and electrify audiences' hearts without using jumper cables. "Singing the Journey" celebrates their 25th anniversary of collective note weaving by drawing on their favorite performances through the years, including compositions by Eleanor Daley, Joan Szymko, and more that represent both contemporary music and musical mainstays. Sistrum's inclusive mission embraces straight, queer, and transgender women of all beliefs, ethnicities, and physical abilities to glean vocal power and life experience from every angle of the female-identified spectrum and gather sisterly souls in union toward a more equitable world for all.
A checkered-flag door rises from the 1950s-style gas station facade of Corky’s Detailing Shack, where owner Robert Elliot welcomes cars inside for a personally performed detailing. Elliot’s washes use only 100% purified water without the grime of reclaimed alternatives or inefficient spit shines, and his interior detailing services go so far as to remove seats during steam cleaning if necessary. Rust proofing, window tinting, and stain guards help maintain aesthetic appearances, and the garage's hydraulic lift assists with more extensive services that range from brake and tire repairs to light electrical repair.
Founded by jaunty moms Joan Blackmer and Kelly Ramirez, Jumpin' Jax provides 10,000 square feet of air-filled entertainment treating children, toddlers, and parents to seven inflatable bouncers, slides, and obstacle courses. Kids and their adult servants can mimic buoyant British barons in the classic jumping castle or compare fabric friction while racing down the 25-foot-long double slide. Obstacle courses like the Fire Truck 3-1 Slide and the 360-degree Adrenaline Rush II combine jumping, sliding, and climbing for the ultimate funfest or life lesson in angry kangaroo evasion. Toddlers being toted along on the inflatable excursion can enjoy a puffed-up play date of their own in the Laugh N Learn course, a special area designed specifically for pint-sized pouncers, and parents can feel assured knowing that all equipment at Jumpin' Jax is cleaned and sanitized daily.
After celebrating a grand opening in a new South Cedar Street location, Tacos E Mas continues to serve up an ample menu of classic Mexican food–now with both dine-in and drive-through service. The restaurant's cooks follow family recipes passed down through generations, stuffing wet burritos with ground beef or chicken and topping them off with white gravy and melted cheese. Ranchero sauce lends piquant flavor to orders of chilaquiles, and a savory blend of beans, cheese, and meat fills edible taco bowls.
