Even as a kid, Julia Zammito was a fitness buff. As an adult, she's transitioned this passion into a career, becoming a trainer and a regular guest on TV?s Daytime. When she's not working on her own physical fitness or standing confidently behind a camera lens, she shares her experience and know-how during her intense, yet supportive, boot camps at Redington Shores Beach and Seminole City Park. Using her own booming voice or a bullhorn, Julia motivates her students to push themselves, personally calling them out by name when she can. She uses mini hurdles, coordination ladders, light dumbbells, and kettlebells to fortify her always-rotating workouts. She also incorporates calisthenics, which rely on the body's own weight as resistance.
Shannon Bostwick shapes healthier clients from top to bottom using variable workouts and advanced TRX suspension training. Clients sweat, strive, and sculpt as Shannon strikes up a fast tempo, using body-weight resistance and cardiovascular exercises to increase muscle tone while maintaining core strength and flexibility. Circuit-style workouts change each day, confusing muscles and keeping the mind engaged.
Aside from its classes being only available for women, there aren't many restrictions at Superlady Fitness Boot Camp. The personal trainers who lead the classes don't care if exercisers can do one push-up or 1,000, which is the amount Wonder Woman did during commercial breaks. That support combined with a daily gamut of cardio, stretches, physio ball work, and body-weight exercises results in fun workouts.
At Clearwater Boxing Center, students learn the sweet science from decorated trainers. There's Ron Valicoff?who owns more than 35 years of martial arts experience?and Tony "TNT" Tucker, who defeated Buster Douglas for the IBF World Heavyweight championship in 1987. Together, the staff oversees an array of classes geared toward folks ages 6 and older, including boxing, kickboxing, and women's only boot camp. Like any true boxing gym, the facility keeps plenty of punching bags around so that students can practice hugging.
Fitness RX Studios' fitness coaches do more than lead exercise classes; they dispense what they like to think of as full-on health "prescriptions". These are not notes for medications, though, but custom fitness plans designed specifically for each member. The plans address each member's goals through a combination of nutritional and physical methods. Food and supplement guidance keeps members energized for self-led workouts and unlimited group fitness classes. The cardio camp class strengthens their endurance, and fight camp sessions build their muscles and give them the chance to beat up a blue punching bag that reminds them of a lake they always hated. Personal training sessions give members one-on-one time with coaches, and bi-weekly evaluations chart their progress so coaches can modify their fitness prescriptions as needed.
At CrossFit Manta Ray, students join a community of coaches and exercise aficionados all working towards the same goal: a stronger, healthier body. Coaches and co-owners Sebastian Albors and Chris Zamudio draw from a passion for fitness and loads of experience in their field to help trainees of all body types and levels. Through group training, nutritional guidance, one-on-one workouts, or Olympic weightlifting classes, participants strengthen their muscles and build up superhuman endurance. Unlike boring bouts on a treadmill or inside a giant hamster wheel, CrossFit regimens challenge minds and bodies with an ever-changing array of intense exercises, such as running, jumping, weightlifting, and rowing, all designed to deliver maximum results and prevent exercise plateaus.
