Tucked away in the revitalized John E. Carson Hotel, Bikram Yoga Downtown hosts flexibility-boosting, body-detoxing yoga classes in a studio heated up to 105 degrees. The high temperatures help muscles stretch more deeply into bikram yoga's 26 postures, a 90-minute sequence that remains the same from class to class. Instructors guide beginners by giving constant verbal cues, and encourage everyone to take the moves at their own pace?students should feel free to break for water or to release the small, cool breezes they've brought in jars. Besides bikram, the studio hosts a variety of other high-temperature fitness classes, including HOT! Pilates sessions designed to sculpt and tone.

Halloween is a time for the zombies, ghouls, and werewolves of the world to shed their everyday human disguises and proudly walk hand in hand with their living counterparts. The Las Vegas Halloween Weekend Urban Obstacle Run honors this ghastly evening with a slew of spine-tingling activities. The 5K obstacle course is the main attraction, pitting participants against a variety of eerie physical challenges, including abandoned cars, corn fields, and barricades, as a cast of zombies tries to thwart their every move. As a reward for surviving the race without becoming infected, the after-party rolls out live music, food, drinks, prizes, and the occasional Elvis sighting. Those who arrive in Halloween attire are invited to compete in a costume contest, and at 8:30 p.m., Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" will fill the air as visitors line up to break the world record for the most people zombie dancing, which is currently held at 14,000.

Vegas Stripper University’s pole professors hail from seasoned pole-dancing backgrounds, sharing their saucy techniques with fledgling shimmiers through classes and private parties. The instructors choreograph moves for dancers of all sizes, shapes, and experience levels, and the studios equip each student with her own pole, where she'll learn to perfect spins, inversions, and flag-pole-sitting strategies. Solo or group dancers can choose their session’s degree of difficulty, ranging from basic to advanced pole and lap dancing. Vegas Stripper University’s instructors also help gals fine-tune heel-clad moves in stiletto sessions and teach homebodies without in-house poles to perform a sassy dance using basic furniture. Private classes reserve studio space for added comfort, where participants may enjoy their own provided beverages. After completing their session, graduates receive a take-home diploma to prove their pole prowess to friends and open-minded shoe shiners.
