The people behind Noble Roman's Take-n-Bake Pizza know that a quality pie is only as good as its ingredients. It starts with the crust. Whether it's a crispy thin-crust, a deep-dish Sicilian, or a hand-tossed 7-incher for one, each crust is made with specially milled, high-protein flour, cornmeal, and bakery yeast. And then there's the sauce, made with vine-ripened California tomatoes and a secret blend of spices. A blanket of mozzarella and muenster comes next, and the whole thing is topped with top-shelf fixins, such as fresh sliced tomatoes, and 100% real meat aged pepperoni, sausage, beef, and bacon.

La Scala Ristorante, named after the famous Teatro alla Scala in Milan, dishes out fine foodstuffs in the Italian tradition and healthy variations in the diet tradition. Using ingredients freshly plucked from the boughs of pan-ingredient trees, La Scala's lunch and dinner menus brim with pasta, fish, and vegetarian delights. For lunch, try the gnocchi alla Genovese ($14), a tribe of exuberant potato dumplings tempered with pesto sauce and pelted with pine nuts. When the dinner buzzard crows, adjust your eggplant intake valve for melanzane alla parmigiana ($18), or ask the attentive wait staff about La Scala's popular fish specials. The restaurant's rich colors and elegant furniture create a romantic backdrop for singing traditional whaling songs with a Valentine.

As its name implies, Midtown Bar & Pizza Kitchen embraces the spirit and the ambiance of a sports bar as well as the cooking of a creative pizzeria. Flat-screen televisions line the entire wall behind the bar, allowing guests to keep one eye on the game as they relax with friends and enjoy a refreshing beer or a potent cocktail. Warehouse lamps hang above the banquette-lined row of tables that sits just opposite the bar, which ensures that visitors can easily find a place to sit before perusing the menu. The selection of appetizers features a variety of salads as well as orders of wings glazed with one of the 15 available savory, spicy, or imaginary sauces. Alternatively, diners can skip straight to building their own pizza by choosing either a hand-tossed or thin-crust pie, then adding as many as 25 toppings, including everything from homemade italian sausage and fresh garlic to carne asada and jalapeños. Midtown Bar & Pizza Kitchen also offers their signature pies, such as the lobster thermidor with rich lobster, thermidor sauce, and mozzarella, and the Shroomaroni, which is what happens when mushrooms and pepperoni fall in love.

In the intimate showroom of the Shimmer Cabaret, two comedians will take the stage to rile audiences with laughter during the Icons of Comedy Series. Hal Sparks performs May 25–29 with a bevy of quick-witted quips and side-splitting observations. Known for his five seasons as Michael Novotny on the Showtime program Queer as Folk, Sparks initially honed his humor prowess and sharpened his comedy swords at Chicago's renowned Second City, which denies any knowledge of the first city's whereabouts. Since then, he's appeared in a variety of movies and TV shows, and has been a guest on talk shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live, Larry King Live, and The Tonight Show.

There are more than 100 beers behind the bar at Wicked Vicky Tavern, but the menu isn't difficult to navigate—there's even a "stuff you've heard of" section for the handful of megabrews, although it is relegated to the bottom of the list. The tavern inside the Riviera Hotel & Casino is more proud of its less common bottles, from fruit beers and ciders to the latest seasonal brews from Dogfish Head. The bartenders aren't exactly craft-beer snobs, however: there are also "beertails" such as the Vegas Snake Bite, which combines Fireball whiskey with Magners cider and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Given the wealth of drink options, it's probably a wise choice for the tavern to keep its food menu simple: classic bar snacks such as wings and fish and chips, burgers, pizza, and a handful of all-day breakfast items. A build-your-own option piles platters with roasted sandwich meats, bread, cheese, and pickles. Breakfast proper entails omelets and French toast with caramelized bananas, while steak and eggs, like any pancakes you stick in your pocket, is available all day.
