Spinal surgery led Nina Waldman to Pilates. After her husband was injured playing professional basketball in Jerusalem—severely enough to require surgery—she became fascinated with Pilates, which he took up as part of his physical rehabilitation. Nina originally aspired to a career in sports medicine, but instead became certified in Pilates and opened two studios, one in Jerusalem and one in her native Las Vegas.

At Body in Mind, Nina and her staff teach Pilates, yoga, and spinning, as well as Candlelight Stretch. This class combines yoga, Pilates, strength training, and sports stretching, and is taught by candlelight. In addition to fitness classes, Body in Mind also stocks Juice Plus+ to supplement healthy diets.

It’s typically said that two heads are better than one, so four must represent an improvement of exponential proportions. The theory certainly holds true in the case of Ultimate Training Center’s four founders, whose heads are chock full of exercise information gleaned from years in the fitness industry and owning their own fitness businesses. They decided to join forces, bringing their many disciplines under one roof. Sue Harragan and Tawnya Christian focus on the ballet-inspire barre fitness classes. Fifteen-year personal training veteran Mike Alexander teaches Schwinn spinning and TRX suspension techniques to build muscle and endurance. CrossFit guru Chris Lewis rounds out the lineup, brining intense cross training and kettlebell classes to the gym.

City Athletic Club's 50,000-square-foot modern facility includes a medical weight loss clinic, workout studios, and state-of-the-art exercise equipment. A small machine that delivers data that helps dieters come up with effective weight-loss plans is also within this space. This device, dubbed the MetaCheck, captures exhaled oxygen during a simple 10-minute breath test and determines how efficiently a person is burning calories. With this metabolic information, one can make more sensible nutritional choices and play the resulting numbers in the lottery.

The fitness instructors, personal trainers, and nutritionists at ClubSport wield the foundations of total-body wellness: detailed knowledge and cutting-edge equipment. Group classes such as cardio kickboxing, cycling, and circuit training showcase routines for all fitness levels, seven days a week. Personal-training sessions, meanwhile, bring help exercisers develop their own fitness plans and face down the imaginary knight that guards every piece of weight-training equipment.

ClubSport also transforms bodies outside the fitness studio and weight room. A self-described resort-style aquatic center features several lap and exercise pools where swimmers can fine-tune their breaststrokes and favorite shark calls. At an on-site spa, massage therapists ease muscle tension with modalities ranging from hot stone and prenatal to trigger point and reflexology.

There's no shortage of workout options at FSY & CrossFit Reveal, a boutique fitness studio that sets group classes to high-energy music. Boost your endurance during intense interval- and circuit-training classes, or break a sweat during FSY Spin and CrossFit classes, the latter of which change regularly to keep muscles guessing. Instructors slow down the pace a bit during yoga-and-rowing classes, but for a truly relaxing experience, look no further than the traditional yoga sessions.
